Product Description

From Amazon.com

Its muscular aura of international intrigue informed by smart characters, sharp writing, and a sleek cinematic sense, the episodes of the hit Alias often seem more like a chapters of a successful movie spy franchise than mere network television series. Key to achieving that masterful illusion is young composer Michael Giacchino, whose soundtracks range across a dizzying range of musical styles and dramatic undercurrents. This anthology of cues from the show's first season incorporates shrewd, techno-savvy club beats, sweeping orchestral sequences of pounding action, brooding suspense worthy of Bond, and inventive indigenous music of indeterminate nationality. Firmly grounded in rich Hollywood traditions, yet hip enough to keep an ear cocked to pulsing, contemporary styles, Giacchino's TV scores often outshine those of the pricier, big budget Hollywood boilerplate he's competing with. --Jerry McCulley

5.0 out of 5 stars Alias Fabulous!, Jun 7 2004

I am in love with the whole world that is Alias, the people, the danger, the deciet, the love.. all these aspects are brought together and combined by the music of the show. This score is a reminder of all the intense emotions that we felt while watching the actual episodes, some tracks you cant even help but shake your yeah in a "yeah-yeah" motion. I totally think this is a great cd to have. even if you're not an Alias fan, for those with ochestral tastes this could be for you too. I love the energy these songs give you.. a definite Sydney Bristow power punch! ENJOY!

3.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, buy the DVD set(s) instead, July 7 2004

I bought the soundtrack because I'm a big fan of the series and thought it'd be a nice accompaniment. I was very disappointed as I listened to this CD because it was quite plain that most of these selections must've been very muted background music. I could remember almost none of it and suspect that several selections are longer than they were on the show. #1 "Main Title" is the one we hear every week and is perhaps the most successful tune to my ears. #14 "Badenweiler" has similarities to "Main Title" as does #22 "Wetsuits". #25 "Bristow and Bristow" has a little of the title style but a lot of other stuff too and #26 "SD-6 Dance Party" just sounded like a pointless reworking of #25. #21 "It was Anna" was very short but good, nothing like the others I've mentioned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, July 1 2004

I've always liked the music on the show, I just got the CD and I love it! If you like dance music you will enjoy this soundtrack, my only disappointment is that they couldn't put all of the songs from the show on the compilation, but it's good enough!
