Mediocre, damaging to Alice's mighty legacy, May 11 2011
This review is from: Alice Cooper Show Live (Audio CD)
The Alice Cooper Show is far from a perfect example of Alice in the mighty 70's -- for a much better live album experience, pick up
Billion Dollar Babies (Deluxe Edition) which contained a live album recorded by the original Alice Cooper Band. The band here are not slouches, Steve Hunter is a great guitar player who defined the late 70's period of Alice. However, the albums were starting to slide -- Go To Hell and Lace & Whiskey were more notable for ballads like "You And Me" and "I Never Cry" rather than idiosyncratic Cooper rockers.
The recording of this album is fine, but the record is far too brief. Aside from the fact that there are too many ballads (time-wise, over a quarter of this album are ballads!), a lot of the songs are truncated versions. "Sick Things" is less than a minute, and seques into "Is It My Body". Likewise, there is an "I Love the Dead"/"Go to Hell"/"Wish You Were Here" medley.
This record fails to capture what Alice was really about, although serious fans will need it to complete the collection. Otherwise, stick to the Billion Dollar Babies deluxe package for a real seriously awesome live 1970's Alice experience.

A Very Live, Very Accurate Document, April 22 2004
This review is from: Alice Cooper Show Live (Audio CD)
I saw this show, and this is the exact sound and show. This isn't some faked record, but a true in person affair. Some may feel this cd doesn't cut, but that's only because there aren't the great routiones to see along with the music. Alice is an audio/visual event. True, it was Coop as Vegas showman during this period, but even that schtick he played to perfection. It's a fine cd.
