Normally I do not buy cookbooks that do not have pictures for each recipe, I'm a visual person. To date the only exceptions to this rule have been my Moosewood Cookbooks, my worn copy of Laurel's Kitchen and my New Farm Vegetarian Cookbook. Had I seen this cookbook in a store quite honestly I probably would have passed it up, but I didn't, I saw it mentioned in a foodie blog and the recipes mentioned intrigued me enough to order it online sight unseen. I cruised the book the day it arrived after I got home from work and I have to say the recipes in this book not only make up for the limited pics, they might make also it one of my favorite cookbooks. It is a delightful collection of recipes, with scatterings of wonderful pics between sections. Scattered throughout the book are several interesting articles on specific foods, from Apples to Vinegar. With its wide range of recipes, helpful sidebars, tips on preparation, explanations and illustrations of kitchen techniques is is also a great reference book worthy of shelf space in any kitchen. This one is a keeper!

Jane Rodmell owns and operates "All The Best" A specialty food store and catering business in Toronto. This cookbook is a sampling of some of the recipes used in her business. It is clear that a lot of thought went into picking the recipes for this book, they cover a wide range from comfort foods like homemade Mac and Cheese to delights like Tiramisu. I could not find a single "I would never make that" recipe in the book. I did find a few I might alter the ingredients on slightly to make them more of a working class style dish, but those were extremely limited and THAT IMHO is a clear sign of a great cookbook. This is not a dust gathering cookbook, it is one you'll use all the time.

I reduced it to 4 stars ONLY because of the limited pics. It doesn't make it a lesser cookbook, but cookbooks with lots of pics are my personal preference.
