The quality of the colander is excellent. However, the holes in the colander are too large. When draining noodles, they tend to come out the holes.

HASH(0x9aa363b4) out of 5 stars All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Colander - Love It May 8 2003
By Mrs. Romano - Published on
This is an excellent colander, I love it. All my cookware is All Clad Stainless Steel so I decided to buy this colander and have not been disappointed. Although this is the smaller of the two sizes All Clad makes it is very roomy. This colander can drain a pound of pasta (even a pound of lasagna) without any problems. It is also great for rinsing salad, the solid side handles make it very easy to manage. It is made very well and is very sturdy. The cleanup is also very easy. Highly recommended!

HASH(0x9a9f8120) out of 5 stars It's Quality, BUT!!! Jan. 8 2010

I have owned this for at least 4 years.

I have to say the Quality is certainly there, and will last forever.
I do find the holes too big sometimes, as someone else said, and I make whole wheat pasta's.

This Colander is deeper, and taller then my other colanders.
When I make Ravioli's and pour them into this, its a far drop (so to speak), and some of them fall apart.
This problem does not happen when I use one of my other colanders, that are more shallow,
and wider.

That said, it is good looking, and goes with my stainless kitchen.
Has nice sturdy handles.

When its not being used, I keep potatoes, or onions etc. in this in my walk-in pantry,
so nobody see's it.

Would I buy this again? NO.
Its pricey. I think I paid about 60.00 , and I like my nonstick one better,
and my other shallower and wider colanders.
Also I like colanders with feet on them, as they drain better then this ring at the bottom.
With the ring at the bottom, the water fills up in the ring in my sink, and I have to lift it up to let the water drain from the ring, and turn it to the side abit!!.

If your looking for a stainless colander to keep on your kitchen counter,
with fruit inside etc, This one would be the one you want. It does look very nice.

I bought both the 3qt and 5qt all-clad colanders. The 3qt size is the only one my family of 4 needs. We use it to rinse produce and drain pasta. If I had known before my purchase, I would have never bought the 5qt size.

HASH(0x9aa364d4) out of 5 stars Looks good, performs poorly March 10 2015

I'm a fan of All-Clad, I have over a dozen items (not counting lids) - a big investment given their high costs. Their colander is a rare failure. It is extremely well-made of heavy-duty stainless-steel, and is quite attractive, with a pattern of medium-sized holes near the bottom that get larger as you go up the sides.

The problem is those holes. Too big. Pasta comes in many sizes and shapes; even the smaller holes at the bottom of this colander can leak some types of pasta, and when you're dumping out the drained pasta nearly ANY kind of pasta will get caught in the larger holes. I've had rotini get trapped in the holes, and strands of spaghetti fold up and slip through. Bad design. If you're looking for a FUNCTIONAL colander, instead try the RSVP Precision 5-Quart Colander; with lots of tiny holes it drains the pasta quickly, and when you dump it the pasta slides out smoothly without catching or leaving any remnants at all.
