This movie is a wonderfully fun Christmas time! We watch it every Christmas season. The plot is predictable but a young Thora Birch is an excellent asset. The comedy is fresh and the belly laughs are numerous. Lauren Bacall gives an excellent performance as Grandma. Children will love it and adults will appreciate the humor. It is a modern day Christmas classic.

I watched this movie as a teenager in the theatre! I loved it then and remember the theme song now. I came to Amazon to find it and I am glad I wasn't dissappointed. I do not agree with the editor most of the time. He maybe in touch with the movie world but apparently not the consumer.

Wow, I can't believe no one has written about this movie! Being an 80s child, I loved this movie right down to the last frame! Ethen Randall (now Ethan Embry) had such wonderful talent, and of course a small crush was there...and he is so much more talented now. But back to the movie, its a sweet movie about kids trying to keep the family together (which is still the case to this day). Its touching how they included santa in there for a little more plot...it shows you how much this child wants this (she'd waste a trip to santa to ask for her parents to reunite - sounds sweet to me!) So, buy this video!

I don't understand reviewers. Perhaps they see too many films and feel they have to say something unpleasant. This film is one that can be watched over and over. All the performances, but especially the children, are wonderful. It is particularly nice to have a good family film like this available at the holidays when things are getting hectic and you just need to relax and enjoy something. There are many one liners that I find myself quoting. Forget the professional reviewers, put this tape on and have a fun viewinbg experience.

A little girl (Thora Birch), the only thing, she wants for Christmas is her Divorced Mother (Harley Jane Kozak) and her Father (Jamey Sheridan) to get back together from the help of a Department-Store Santa (Leslie Nielsen).
Directed by Robert Lieberman made a Charming Dramatic Comedy by Rediscoving Love. Good Supporting Performances by Ehtan Embry, Lauren Bacall & Kevin Nealon. Birch (American Beauty, Ghost World) is the Real-Light of this film.

This movie is a staple in my house during the holiday season. It is great for children and adults will enjoy it as well. Leonard Maltin is clueless when it comes to this movie. he said it is a waste of time for all concerned, however I believe people waste their time anytime they read one of his reviews because he is riducolous. This is a great holiday movie and I highly recommend it to anybody who wants a feel-good holiday movie.
