If you've heard Blink 182, the Offspring, or Green Day, you've heard Sum 41, with or without All Killer No Filler. The Canadian quartet's California punk formula is a well-worn one that seems to be working: set poppy, three-chord rock to hyperactive speeds, write songs about why you don't care and play up your juvenile-delinquent side for all it's worth (check out the "Going, Going, Gonorrhea" video with the band "doing all the dangerous and immature stuff you shouldn't try from the safety of your own home"). Of course, this has all been done before and will continue to be rehashed again as long as a silly, snotty attitude brings in the record company gold. While these punks a re hardly walking down the block less travelled, they still packed All Killer full of hooks that should snag radio listeners. Peppy sing-along choruses, rolling drum solos and guitar-driven anthems uncork the energy and brightly colour this fast-moving album. --Jennifer Maerz

Ne pas se prendre la tête et surtout n'en faire qu'à la sienne pourrait être la devise de Sum 41. On les a déjà comparés aux Beastie Boys, ce qui n'est pas un mince compliment, mais plus sérieusement, on se bornera à citer le nom des aînés Green Day. Pour le reste, la dégaine est (savamment) bordélique, à l'image de clips pour le moins marrants ("Fat Lip/Pain For Pleasure"). Musicalement, ça déboule à 200 à l'heure, la guitare entre les dents, au point qu'on se demande jusqu'où le groupe parodie les clichés du heavy metal. Squattant la cour des grands, ce quarteron de Canadiens en folie délivre bombe sur bombe en forme d'hymnes qui remplaceront avantageusement les singles de Green Day usés jusqu'à la corde. Jetez une oreille sur "Nothing On My Back" ou "Summer" : c'est crétinement punk et basique, soit le strict minimum garantissant le pied d'enfer aux amateurs du genre. --Hervé Comte

This album shows a lot of talent, mized with many good tunes. However, I was slightly dissapointed with the length of some of the songs. They seemed too short, for the amount of money payed. Overall though, it was still worth purchasing.

( i may make some wording makstakes don't mind them)this is there best cd after this it is dose this look infected then cuck, half hour of power is ok but this one is better the best song is fat lip, motivation or in too deep. the best mini song (like 45 second songs) they have all together is never wake up or pain for pleasure.

i like sum 41, but this CD gets old after a while. it may have some good stuff like fat lip, in too deep, and nothing on my back, but "does this look infected" is much better.
