5.0 out of 5 stars Knowing our history! Feb. 7 2012

My curiosity received a very pleasant surprise after purchasing this wonderful little children's book. I currently work as school teacher for elementary graders, so I thought this would be a nice book for reading to the younger groups. As with so many materials for the younger children, we have to proof read first to make sure the content is 'child-appropriate'. Not only was it more than appropriate, with more and more children having such a diversified background as the world grows smaller, the information inside pertains to so many of us. Wherever you may come from and whatever your lineage may be, we all share such a cross-cultural background. This book addresses one little girls journey to find out about her family and the enthusiasm she shares with her class when she learns of all the different cultures and ethnic backgrounds contained within.

It was a joyous read and I am sure that it will be a great session starter for anyone working with or in charge of small children. Be prepared for a plethora of questions and just as many stories that will be volunteered by all who learn about Miyoko and her family tree!

A timeless masterpiece...great illustrations for the kids, and a great message for us parents to share with the youngsters. Looking forward to more of her work.
5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful story Aug. 8 2011

This is a beautifully illustrated story of the power of acceptance of all parts of our family histories.

Although my children loved the story, Miyoko's tale also resonated with me.

If you've ever researched your family tree in an attempt to learn more about yourself, I think you will also enjoy "All of the Pieces".
