Throughout their 9-year career, Nickelback has stayed true to their roots, releasing five CDs of straight-up, unapologetic rock & roll. So how have things changed for the Canadian boys since the massive success of Silver Side Up and The Long Road? Well, brothers Chad and Mike Kroeger still live in the Great White North, and they still write hook-laden rock songs. The only difference now is that they have the satisfaction, 10 million CDs later, of smugly knowing that even some of their biggest naysayers will guiltily admit to singing along with Nickelback's catchy hits. On All The Right Reasons, one track definitely ranks high up in hum-ability: the first single, "Photograph" reminisces about the bittersweetness of high school in a small town--once again reconfirming frontman Chad Kroeger's ability to write memorable hooks. Regarding the rest of the disc: standard rock topics like love, lust, jealousy, and breakups abound, with riff-y delivery that longtime fans will love. The guilty pleasure bunch will also find what they need within the grooves, on the ballad "If Everyone Cared," the riff-heavy "Fight for All the Wrong Reasons," and the Metallica-inspired "Savin' Me." The disc's most impressive and simultaneously surreal moment, however, exists on "Side of a Bullet," a passionate revenge tale written about the killer of Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, which, features one of the late Abbott's guitar solos, as donated by Pantera bandmate and brother, drummer Vinnie Paul. --Denise Sheppard

It's sick! I want to take this cd out and listen to something else but I can't! At first it was ANIMALS that did it...then it was ROCK STAR.....but really it's the whole damn thing. I've never written a review before. This album is so good, I just had to spread the word.

5.0 out of 5 stars How could anyone not like this music? Aug. 31 2007
Format:Audio CD
I heard "Photograph" on the radio a while back and decided I had to have this CD. Now, while the other cuts are nothing like the Photo-hit, they're every bit as good. That said, some of the lyrics are a bit racy and they'll got right by you if you're not listening intently. The group has had obvious influences, but the sound is their own. I've read some really bad reviews in papers and such about them, and can't imagine why they're not appreciated more than they are. If you really get into this music, really listen to it with headphones or on your i-pod, you'll hear the intricate details that have been put into the music--the many layered tracts and great engineering that's gone into the making of this music. If nothing else, buy it for the "Photograph" cut, which is one of the best songs to come out in the last ten years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something For Everyone! May 16 2013

"Photograph" may be the best heavy ballad to come out of Nickelback and can easily be loved by the non-metal crowd whilst the rest of the album rocks hard in the patented groove that I love.

Arguably the best album if you only have room for one Nickelback disc.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fairly Generic Nickelback Dec 10 2012

Biggest knock against the band is that Chad & Co recognized a little too much what was expected of them and "sold out". Still, a pretty good effort here, on the album that cemented their stardom

4.0 out of 5 stars You won't ask for your nickels back! Oct. 5 2005
Format:Audio CD
Picked up this cd the day it came out expecting exactly what I expect from every Nickelback cd, and I wasn't disappointed! Great album by one of Canada's biggest bands. "Photograph" has been out for over a month and it's a song you just can't get out of your head, whether you like it or not. The album is full of songs just like that...you can't get them out of your head...you find yourself singing them at randomas if it's an impulse. I've listened to this album probably four times in the past two days, which is a testament to how good it is.
Ontario native Daniel Adair does a great job taking over the drums for the departed Nik Vikedal. Although I still think the best leadoff tracks to Nickelback's albums have been "Never Again" (Silver Side Up) and "Flat On The Floor" (Long Road), "Follow You Home" from this album is still a great way to lead off a Nickelback album. The second track, "Fight For All The Wrong Reasons" is the one that got my attention. Great lyrics and a perfect single candidate! Another song that caught my attention was the closing track "Rock Star", which actually sounds like an anti-fame song, but still rocks, and the backing vocals on that one make it even better!
You want a ballad? Candidates for that include "Savin' Me", "If Everyone Cared", and "Far Away". Like the other guy said, this IS a must-have for any Nickelback fan...those who aren't are better off just buying the "Photograph" single.

This is one of the best albums from Nickelback and one of the best albums from 2005. I remember the first time that I heard the song, Photograph. I thought for sure that Nickelback would have received their second #1 single. Well, Mariah Carey's We Belong Together kept Photograph out of the top spot. Now that I think about it, Photograph deserved to be #1. Nickelback rocks with Animals and the Side of a Bullet. Far Away and Savin' Me are incredible power ballads and should have included on Power Ballads gold. All the right reasons is an album that is well done and it's beautifully written.

Photograph is a beautiful song. It's one of the best songs on the album. Far Away is beautiful power ballad and love song. Far Away is one of the best power ballads of all-time. Savin' Me is another great ballad from the album. If Everyone Cared is one of my favorite songs from the album. Rockstar is another amazing song from the album. Side of a bullet and Animals are powerful rock songs from the album. The DVD has videos for If Everyone Cared, Savin' Me, Far Away and the anthem from 2005, Photograph and includes live performances of songs from their album. It's amazing.
