4.0 out of 5 stars One Sexy Ride, Oct 16 2007
By Monica Burns "Romance Author" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Along For the Ride (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this great, sexy ride of Michelle Pillow's newest release. Along For The Ride has a strong, alpha heroine with a hero who's strong enough to let her be an alpha without losing any of his own strength. Megan's struggle to let go of her tough exterior and open herself up was poignant. Ryan was the perfect foil to the heroine as he coaxed Megan out of her shell. He simply stood back and offered her his love and waited for her to come to grips with the idea of falling for him. He's one patient guy! The sex scenes were hot and spicy, and made for a great read overall. So kick back and go along for the ride as Michelle Pillow takes you for a spin in her newest release.

4.0 out of 5 stars Along for the Ride, Mar 21 2008
By M. Nix - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Along For the Ride (Paperback)
Megan Matthews is a detective. Thanks to a photo forensic photographer Ryan Lucas took of her, Megan is now referred to as the "Little Darling Detective." Megan avoids Ryan whenever possible. Ryan wants Megan badly. One might even say he's obsessed with her, so when he asks Megan out and she turns him down listing all of the traits she's looking for in her man, Ryan meets them and announces to her family that they are engaged. Megan wants nothing to do with Ryan but his passionate kisses curl her toes. Even though the sparks between them burn hotter than fire, Ryan thinks that maybe he'll never get what he really wants from Megan...her love.

Ryan is a really great guy in Along For The Ride. He's handsome, sexy, charming, and amazing in bed. Megan is independent, strong and fun but she's a brat. She blows Ryan off constantly even right after they make love. She doesn't have a good reason for it either. If Ryan had done what Megan did, readers would hate him for it. Ryan is often left wondering about his mysterious woman. Let me tell you something, Ryan, Megan is not mysterious. She's a brat! I love Ryan, I love Megan's family and I really like the story, but I don't like the way Megan treats Ryan through most of the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars So many grammar, sequencing, timing errors that one can't follow the story, May 25 2009
By Sarah1989 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Along For the Ride (Paperback)
I was finding myself very distracted by all the errors. Finally, on page 71, I decided to keep track of them. I wanted to see if I was being picky or if there were that many. At the top of page 71, the author writes:

'Finally! I can't believe we're here.' Sasha groaned, throwing her purse down on the lodge-house floor. After the seven-and-a-half hour flight, they'd been forced to drive another hour and a half in a rented SUV to get to the lodge Beatrice had booked.

Okay, who forced them? There was an evil genie with hand gun? It's not like as SUV is not a luxury vehicle, having to ride in a Volkswagen bug, one of the old ones without shocks, that's forced.

Also, one printed page earlier, the author describes two airline flights with a fast food restaurant" break for lunch in between. So they are, by the author's description above, more than 7-1/2 hours from Montana, since there are 2 flights and she refers to the last one as a "seven-and-a-half hour flight." No place in the US is that far from Montana by plane. Maybe she meant they had spent a total of 7-1/2 hours flying? Why doesn't she say that? "seven-and-a-half hour flight" refers to ONE flight, not two. She needs a proof reader or to retake the English course I took in my sophomore year of high school.

Then in the middle of page 71, she refers to "old black and white miner photographs." Does she mean the miners are both black and white people, or that the photographs are black and white? Technically, the words indicate the former--that the people in the photos are both black and white people since adjectives describe the noun that follows them. I think she probably meant black and white photos of miners, but that not what she says.

Okay, I give up, 3 errors and I'm only about half way down the page. That does it. I'm going to read a book by Emma Holly or Angela Knight. Their sex scenes are hotter and their grammer doesn't distract from the story line. I see that Ms. Pillow has a number of books published. I may have to see if the library has any just so I can satisfy my morbid curiosity! Is her grammar always this bad?
