Book Description

Dec 1 2010
The term alpenglühn, or alpenglow, refers to the purple light that can often be seen on the tops of mountains, a spectacularly beautiful natural phenomenon. But in this magnificent volume of photographs, it’s not only the Alps that are glowing in warm translucent light, but the girls also. Is this for real? It seems these strikingly pretty creatures have climbed up steep hills and hiked through meadows only to cast off their dirndls with enthusiastic aplomb. Well, Stefan Söll knows exactly how to turn such fantasies into reality. He celebrates the natural beauty of alpine flora and fauna, using the mountains where Germany, Austria, and Switzerland meet as his setting. His studio in Friedrichshafen on the Bodensee is in the perfect location from which to start these photographic excursions.

If nude photography is for you, this book is a must have. Taking place in the alps of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy models have been taking off their clothes in that region to express the desire and intentions of Stefan Soell. The models like in Volcanic Girls are natural and beautiful. They were chosen specifically into making this 200 pg book an awesome dream...a dream you wouldn't want to forget Alpengluehn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Inspiration!!! April 5 2011
By Michelle7 TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Hardcover
Sometimes it takes industry leaders far too long to discover talent that the general population has already been raving about for years. That's certainly the case with German photographer Stefan Soell (also spelled Söll). He's created a huge and astoundingly beautiful body of work over the last two decades, funded largely by his own self-publishing efforts and websites such as [...]. But now we have Alpengluhn, which is Soell's first major book published. And it will most certainly not disappoint.

What makes Stefan Soell's work so interesting, and so universally appealing, is his talent for mixing traditional glamour with artistic photography. His nudes are about more than just beautiful women - they are compositional masterpieces, dramatic figure studies and portraits, and his subjects are often embedded in scenery worthy of the greatest landscape specialist. Soell's images have a tendency to provoke feelings of joy in the viewer. These factors are on full display in Alpengluhn, where Soell showcases nudes created with some of Europe's most beautiful women. They are radiant, voluptuous, and charismatic - and each poses joyfully nude amidst Europe's most spectacular mountain scenery. The shooting location was the Alps, specifically in the region where Germany, Austria, and Switzerland come together. It's inspiring.

This is one of those books that has to be seen to be believed. It's that powerful. Hopefully, now that Stefan Soell has been 'discovered' by the highly respected Swiss publisher, Edition Skylight, we'll see lots more from him in the future.
