Avoid Aluratek Photo Frames...,
By
This review is from: Aluratek ADMPF007F 7-Inch Digital Photo Frame With Remote (Electronics)
In my experience, Aluratek makes marginal quality product, their warranty seems to be the shortest in the industry, and their warranty/support department is fairly incompetent (and somewhat rude). My experiences: 1. High failure rates. I have purchased several of their products (10+) and about 50% have failed. 2. They offer a short warranty. For example - their warranty is only 120 days on picture frames - although I don't see this noted here at Amazon.ca. I had two picture frames fail like clockwork within weeks of the end of the exceedingly short 120 day warranty. 3. Incompetent customer service/warranty department. They sent an incorrect part as warranty replacement on two occasions, and then their reps had a very poor attitude about arranging to have the incorrect item shipped back to them. They acted like I was inconveniencing them! It was their error! Note also that there is no warranty available in Canada - the item must be shipped (at customer expense) to the US. A few of my warranty replacements have failed quickly as well. Bottom line - best to avoid Aluratek. Buy a better brand with at least a 1-year warranty - Sony / HP etc...

Terrible digital frame, even given the price,

Bought three of these and didn't even bother opening the second two. Opened the first one, loaded in the card and turned it on, only to find a sub-standard display (fuzzy, bleeding). It almost looks like it is defective till you realize it is just a bad product. Disappointed that Amazon even carries these frames. Returned them the same day I received them. Kodak and Polaroid ones much better.

Nice frame, but I had some "issues",

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Aluratek ADMPF007F 7-Inch Digital Photo Frame With Remote (Electronics)
I purchased this frame as a gift. Fortunately, I wanted to load it with some pictures and music before I gave it to the person. I say "fortunately", because. . . at first. . . the remote did not work. I really didn't have time to return it, and I thought that perhaps it was a simple issue that the battery was dead. I purchased a new battery, but it didn't work either. Finally, I thought that perhaps it was an issue of the battery simply not being snug enough to the metal tabs to connect for power. I was right. When you remove the battery, it is held into place by very flexible (and cheap) plastic. I simply bent the plastic up a little. . . then replaced the battery. . . and . . . TA-DA. . . it worked. For the price, I thought the picture quality was good. Though the sound quality was ok that it. . . . just "ok". Though there are buttons on the back of the frame, you're limited on what you can do with these buttons. You can do much more with the remote. I was never able to find out how you could start from the beginning, if you were in the middle of a slideshow, without simply turning it off and then back on. I could also not find a way to manually go through the pictures faster if you're in the middle of a slideshow. I could also not find a way to go back to the last picture, if you're in the middle of a slideshow. If I had more time to play with it, perhaps there is a way, but simply pressing the forward or back button does not work, and one would think that would be the easiest/smartest way. Again, overall, for the price, I was ok with it, but if I had more time, I would have returned it, simply for the fact the remote didn't work like it should have, and I'm afraid that it would be a constant problem. 4 of 6 people found the following review helpful

Quality and service problems,

I normally don't take the time to comment on products but the technical support of Aluratek is the worst I have ever seen. I purchased the model ADMPF110 and it was dead out of the box. I go round and round with their technical support via email and finally they give me an RMA to send it in for repair. I wanted to put this in the wall of a new house we are building so I needed it back pretty quickly. So I sent it to them over-night with all of the necessary paper work. 90 days later I get it back. By this time I had bought another brand unit to put in our new house. We were really busy getting the house completed so I didn't get around to looking at the Aluratek unit I got repaired under warranty unit about 3.5 months later. It was dead out of the box again! This time it made a faint clicking noise when turned off and on which was an improvement over last time, however, still nothing on the screen. Absolutely dead in all modes. Aluratek said that I had it over 90 days and that it was out of warranty and if I wanted to send it back in they would repair it for a fee. I explained that I never got to use it even once. The said it was out of warranty. I explained it was just barely out of warranty and they said it didn't matter, I should have checked it out when I first got it back. I told them that I am not their quality control department. Unless you want to get stuck with junk that doesn't work or unless you want to do the quality control for this company I suggest you don't buy any of their products.

Great picture quality and easy to use,

It's simple and the picture looks good. Turn it on, insert your memory card and it starts playing slideshows. This is a great gift item for those less technical (which is why I purchased two).
