Been using this unit about a month now. It is wired in to a hub as opposed to the wireless connection. Never lost a connection as others have reported, I own a software company and the loss of connection reported problems have a lot more to do with local networks, users not understanding wireless setup and the radio station servers than with Aluretek. Their industry rated web uptime is almost 100%. Also the user that plugged a non-powered harddrive into the USB is asking to have the radio blow up - this has nothing to do with Aluretek but USB standards - as does the file system problem. To make a system like this "idiot proof" would push the price upto to several hundred dollars.

This is a very good buy, giving hundreds of quality stations (if you know the diffence in broadcast rates and server connections of little Billy running a radio station in his basement and a real web radio station.) This is as good as satellite radio for the home and costs a whole lot less. The comment about analog to digital is valid only in a comparison to satellite, adding a digital connection with Internet radio would be useless because of the broadcast quality. Few could physically hear the difference anyway.

It is easy to set up, the web addresses in the manual have been changed but can be found through Aluretek - this is a very good product.

Update: Now approaching a year of use and it has run perfectly - it runs almost 24x7 in an office as background music.

New update: March 2012 - bought a second for my home - had a problem but it could have been my mistake (bad cable,) sent it back to Auratek - they tested it and found nothing wrong - but to be safe replaced it anyway - great service - nice guys - I attached it to a Sound bar - almost as good sound wise as satellite, but better because of more choices from all over the world.

Newer update: January 2013 - running these things for years now. Internet radio is getting real good, better than satellite - satellite in the home is crazy when you can use one of these things. There is a problem with one unit with "DNS not found" - this has to be a problem with v-tuner - the service Alurtek uses in their radios. I suspect it is related to my ISP and their DNS rather than Alurtek, because it runs fine on a different ISP. If you get the DNS not found error simply turn off the radio then on again and it resets itself (this is another reason I think it is related to the ISP DNS - I tried using a different DNS in my cable ISP provided router and it seemed to work fine but I did not extend the test to be sure.) As for v-tuner they will add a radio station for you if you ask :) So now my local stations are there as well - the only only one I can't get is CBC - it seems their web programmers are idiots and use dynamic urls and change urls almost daily - impossible for v-tuner to keep up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aluratek AIREC01F -- It Just Works Sep 17 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
I am a fan of Aluratek products. I have several, and they all do what they claim, cost a modest price, and aren't fluffy or pretentious.
I already have another Aluratek radio and I was quite surprised when the one I got refused to connect to my network. After several of the usual stupid questions from tech support, the technician turned out to be really helpful. Unfortunately, my unit also suffered from power drop-outs when I moved it gently, so I requested a replacement from Amazon -- and got it within 48 hrs. (Amazing, Amazon!)
The new unit wouldn't connect either, but the technician again walked me through several options and we discovered that the problem was because I had two routers using the same SSID and password. I changed one SSID and the Aluratek has been wirelessly playing the contents of my media server ever since.
Bonus points to Aluratek Tech support!
All I do now is switch the stereo to the correct input and connect to the media server on the Aluratek. Sound is good. Track information is displayed. Music could, in theory, play for 26 days without repeating a song. What more could you want?

Great radio, had it up and running in just a few minutes. It works as advertised. However I wish it had a search feature, it can be time consuming finding certain stations.
