Fresh meat, may I introduce you to Bella Books and Bold Strokes Books?, Dec 9 2010
By fantasmic - Published on Amazon.com
BSB and Bella please sign Isabella to a contract, because I've gone through both of your backlists and I'm ready for some fresh, new voices in romance. While "Always Faithful" may be a fairly paint-by-the-numbers story (what isn't in this genre?), Claire and Nic's short and sweet journey to their "happily ever after" is all the more compelling because of their palpable chemistry (and angst)... and when I say palpable, I mean it's as though you're actually feeling the emotions they're experiencing while reading. Add to the mix an interesting cast of characters and the military backdrop and you can't go wrong. Like a fellow reviewer, I could not stop reading until I finished the book and wished it was longer.
But my favorite part of "Always Faithful" has to be its portrayal of the military. Yes, DADT is a terrible policy but the U.S. military is so much more than just DADT and it is admirable that Isabella chose not to denigrate it in order to get across the point that DADT sucks.
My only quibbles with "Always Faithful" are a handful of loose threads (or characters), which I thought should've been either further developed (my choice) or edited out altogether, and a rushed final quarter or so of the story. Otherwise, I hope a sequel about Jordan is forthcoming!

don't ask, don't tell, don't go to a gay bar, Nov 7 2010
By Steve Geib - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Always Faithful (Paperback)
At first I felt so bad for the two main characters. Always apologizing to each other, "I was out of line" that kinda thing. Then I realized that's exactly how relationships start out. We try to find the "lines" and if we are going to fit. I then became really anxious for these two to discover each other. I wanted the happy ending for them! I loved the book and highly recommend this author.

Great military story, Dec 6 2010
By TerryB "Lesfic fan" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Always Faithful (Paperback)
Major Caldwell, (Nic) is sent back Stateside from Iraq to a Marine Base in California after she is badly injured in a helicopter crash. She slowly recovers and when she is back on her feet, is given the job as an `inform' on base. Her new job is to inform the families of serving personnel of their loved ones death. One of her informs is Claire Monroe, the wife of an acquaintance of hers, Mike. Claire and Mike had a young daughter and Nic rather took a shine to her. It makes Nic look back over her life and see all of what she has missed over the years by serving her country. She would never be able to have a family all the time she stays in the military. Claire Monroe has lost her husband, but is now seeing a part of herself she hasn't seen in years. She is torn between remaining respectful to her husbands memory and being who she wants to be. Major Nic Caldwell is in a turmoil. She has feelings that she can't possibly act upon. There is her career to consider. Plus Claire is straight, isn't she?
I so enjoyed this book. I just couldn't put it down. Just one minor complaint, I would have liked it to be longer. I just couldn't get enough, I wanted much more.
