Product Description

Product Description

2009 album from the singer, songwriter, actress and wife to Pop/Rock troubadour Ryan Adams. Amanda Leigh was produced by Mike Viola, leader of The Candy Butchers and co-songwriter for music from That Thing You Do and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. The album's direction is inspired by Moore and Viola's mutual love for Paul McCartney's Ram album and the songwriting of artists like Todd Rundgren, Joni Mitchell, CSNY and Nilsson. Mandy has sold over 8 million albums worldwide. Her critically acclaimed performances in movies such as Saved, American Dreamz and the more recent, Dedication, have made her one of Hollywood's most desirable actresses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent July 3 2009
Format:Audio CD
Still sticks to the folk-pop sound which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what your tastes are. Regardless though, it's easy to listen to. If you're looking for something a little different and haven't heard her last album(wild hope) you should check this one out. It's almost like a "happy" version of her last album, so if you liked wild hope you should like this one aswell. Only problem i had would be that it's rather short(just under 40 minutes), not sure if that's an issue with everyone, just throwing it out there~ Quality over quantity though =)

A very good follow up to 'Coverage' and 'Wild Hope'. Other than the immediately catchy 'I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week' the rest of the songs take a few listens to really grab you but are rewarding and catchy once they've become familiar. Other than the previously mentioned lead single, the standouts for me are 'Love to Love Me Back' and 'Bug', along with 'Indian Summer', 'Nothing Everything' and 'Everblue'. Moore's sounds lovely and genuine and the songs are sincere and emotionally rich with a strong acoustic 70's pop influence (with hints of country and jazz). 'Amanda Leigh' evokes memories of summer nights, rainy days and falling in love. I guess you could call it 'easy listening' in the best possible sense.

4.0 out of 5 stars More folk-sy sounding than previous Jun 15 2009

My favorite song on the album was immediately "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week". The rest of the album has taken some time to get used to. It has more folk-like songs than Mandy's previous albums and she's definitely growing up. I prefer "Wild Hope" to this album.
