Enya's music continues to captivate me, over these many years. I'm still listening to CD #2 even after Christmas. I love the song "Christmas Secrets". Enya's angelic voice adds lustre to Adeste Fideles and We Wish You A Merry Christmas. I wish Enya would make an entire album of Christmas songs. Even some more traditional Gaelic Christmas/New Year songs would be great. In the mean time, enjoy Amarantine and the 4 songs on CD 2. Well worth it, and if you're not an Enya fan yet, you will become one!

I am very disappointed to find that this is just the CD Amarantine but with a Christmas cover. I took off the plastic wrap and found that the CD case was within another cover. When I removed the nice 'Special Christmas Edition' cover, underneath was just the Amarantine CD that I already have. I had checked this out carefully, having being fooled by her other Christmas Cd that has only four songs. Because the cover looked different, I did not realize it was a repeat. This was a rip off. I am very disgusted with the marketing of her CD's and I am no longer interested in buying Enya's CD's.

I am an unapologetic Enya fan. I have all her albums. Enya's newest album continues seamlessly from "A day Without Rain." Sometimes soaring as grandly as the wind on the open sea, sometimes as intimate as a fireside conversation, it will thrill Enya's fans. It doesn't really explore new and revolutionary territory, but that's not what Enya's music is about. It is meant to be familiar and comfortable, yet new enough to keep the listener engaged. This album is successful on both points. If you loved her previous works, this will not disappoint.
My personal favourites are "The River Sings" a wonderful chanting piece that speaks of a magical world apart from ours; and "Sumiregusa" where her pure voice soars free. Enya has carved out a unique niche for herself in modern music, she is an oasis in a vapid wasteland where sampled-from-other-artists is hailed as groundbreaking and original. Enya is a true original, above and beyond the rest of the world of popular music.
A must buy for all her fans. Dim the lights, brew some tea and let yourself be transported away to magical musical place.

For those Enya fans, this CD continues her tradition of beautiful, soothing, peaceful music. Her music is a balm for the soul and a much needed respite from this busy world.
For those of you not familiar with Enya, I gave out 4 copies of this CD for Christmas and I believe that we now have 4 new Enya fans. My friends and family loved the music!
My husband and I first heard her music in an intimate seaside restaurant in PEI where we celebrated our 3rd anniversary many years ago. We were immediately captivated by the unusual melodies and soothing background music and have been fans ever since. We have all of Enya's CDs and preordered this one from Amazon.
Thank you Enya and your musical team for your lovely gift of music. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world!

Enya has amazed me over the years with her music. She isn't constantly reinventing herself or experimenting with different types of music. She single handedly developed a new style of music back in the 1980's that sounded like nothing else, and she has stuck with that formula from one album to the next. Is Amarantine any different? No, it isn't. But if you love Enya's music, the haunting melodies, and the layers upon layers of vocals that just add another dimension to her music, you won't be disappointed in this album. As with all of her music, listening to this album is a very personal experience. She takes you away on a beautiful and magical journey that you will want to go on time and time again. She definitely still has the touch.

This is a fine CD, full of amazing music. I started humming along to it the first time I listened to it. And it's just in time for Christmas. So, if you have some people who are "hard to buy for" - why not grab 10 or 20 copies of this CD, and hand them out! Enya just seems to get better and better with every release. I'm glad the song "Sumiregusa" (sung in Japanese) was included on this CD. It was a teaser on Enya's website for a year or two. My favourite song on this CD has to be "Amid The Falling Snow" - perfect for Edmonton's climate. Only thing missing are songs in Gaelic, instead we get a gibberish language "Loxian" but the music is still well written. Enjoy this CD.
