My Amazon Kindle Paperwhite which I have been using for the last two weeks is a major step forward from my first generation Kindle reader. I find that I can now comfortably read under most lighting conditions whereas before I had to have reasonably good lighting. The light intensity in the reader can be easily adjusted for all surrounding lighting conditions. The pages can be turned effortlessly by light touch. The font size can also be easily adjusted.
Touching the top of the screen brings up the menu of; "home', "go to", cloud, font size, light intensity, plus several other choices. One of the new choices I find very beneficial is "X-ray" which allows you to get a brief analysis of the characters mentioned on a particular page which is very helpful when there are a lot of characters in a book that you have had to leave on the side for several days.
I am getting at least 12 hours of reading time with at least one download without need for recharging.
I strongly recommend obtaining the leather cover which makes the unit very compact, and causes the unit to automatically turn on when you open the cover. The unit with cover fits easily into the outside pocket of a suit jacket or sports coat or inside pocket of most outdoor jackets and overcoats.
Personal files in pdf or other acceptable formats can easily be loaded onto the unit.
