Product Description

Album Description

This is not a tale about a gunslinger hero, nor is it meant to cut your heart. It is not the pledge at last year's meeting of aficionados and it is not the eulogy at a death-country funeral. This is the tale of three storytellers who turned up their collars to the cold night in the dead of winter. Clutching old cases to their coats, they climbed the frozen stairwell to a dusty room in an abandoned abattoir on the edge of the city. Over three long days and nights, they coaxed sounds from the walls, ceiling and floors onto stacks of tape, slowly giving life to what would become the heart of the album. With the aid of basement stairwell echoes and broken down work vans, the album took its initial breath. The stories and sounds that were captured and which you presently hold in your hands, are the tales of AMBASSADOR.

AMBASSADOR is narrated in its entirety by Mark Sasso, Casey Laforet and Stephen Pitkin.

Now this is the part where you ignore that old western flickering on that old black and white in front of you and let your living room be engulfed in the swelling dust storm outside.

For Ambassador is here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ever felt the hand of the gods reach down and press play?, Oct 18 2005

I'm not gonna get all weepy and blubber on about how this album made me feel faint in the knees. I'm not gonna go on about its aesthetic, both aural and physical, and a little something extra that can't be described by someone trying to not go on about something. Of course I wont tell you about its high-inducing controlled chaos or its subtle beauty that is complimented only by actually seeing the band play. And I wont use a cheesy ploy of not telling you things when I actually am.

4.0 out of 5 stars Death Country, May 10 2006
By Daniel Lakens - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Ambassador (Audio CD)
Death Country, that is the label pasted on this band, but if this is death country, then Mahler is Death Classic. This is a country band, but then a low and dark one. Especially the more up tempo songs like Second Sun and Wolfgang are worth listening to, although the banjo playing is a joy to listen to in every song. Really. Check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars buy this record!, Feb 28 2006
By Tracy Minicucci - Published on Amazon.com

If you like roots, alt-country, or bluegrass, this record is for you! Wonderful, pretty vocal melodies/harmonies with a slight edge to them. Foot stompin' good time! Music to drink whiskey by!

4.0 out of 5 stars regrets, Feb 21 2009
By A. Heenan - Published on Amazon.com

My title is in reference to NOT buying this album when I saw them live! Their set was unwaveringly boogie-ful. I thought to myself, "I will definitely buy this album when I get back (to the US)," but they hadn't released it yet.
DO NOT PASS UP A CHANCE TO SEE EB LIVE! i saw them at Folk on the Rocks 2008, at Yellowknife, NWT.
