A Personal Favorite July 14 2008
By Fred R. Coventry - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
As a kid of the 80's, I have a special place in my heart for this movie, and especially for its excellent soundtrack. Few, if any, of the tunes are anything but strong, and while the sound is dated, that's kind of the point, isn't it? This was one of those seminal 80's movies, and the soundtrack reflects it brilliantly.

I used to listen to this with one of my first girlfriends, and it holds many fond memories for me. Indeed, I wore out two casette tapes of this, and still own my third copy, although it is beginning to wear a bit thin.

If you love the 80's, or 80's music and culture, get this soundtrack. You really won't be able to resist loving it.

A Great Example Of 80s Soundtrack Music April 12 2007
By C. Hunt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is a great CD from the equally great movie American Anthem

the music really brings me back to a simpler time,if you're old enough to remember the 80s I challenge you to listen to this CD and not smile, sure a lot of the stuff sounds dated (especially the 2 keyboard instrumentals) but that's half of the fun.

The highlight of the CD is the song 'Take It Easy' from Andy Taylor, which was actually a bit of a hit and the video played on MTV quite often

the rest of the CD has some very catchy tunes

it starts off with a very strong and catchy tune from John Parr called Two Hearts (which also was a bit of a hit) and then it mellows a bit with 'Run To Her' from Mr Mister (pure 80s delight here) then another 80s monster band INXS with 'Same Direction' very upbeat and happy sounding,it then mellows a bit with Stevie Nicks 'Battle Of The Dragon' from there it goes to 'Wings To Fly' by Graham Nash, which would have sounded equally at home on the Karate Kid soundtrack, pure 80s which I love, then the highlight, two great songs back to back from Andy Taylor,'Take It Easy' (which is one of my very favorite 80s tunes) and 'Wings Of Love' both very good songs with instant hooks and great production, then it mellows with Love And Loneliness by Chris Thompson and the rest of the CD is instrumental,'ANGEL Eyes' by Andy Taylor (which is actually quite good) and 2 instrumentals from Alan Silvestri 'Arthur's Theme' and 'Julie's Final' which the keyboard sounds are priceless, you just don't hear that sound in today's music

the upside - fantastic music,a slice of the 80s,enough hits to make this very worthy to add to your collection

the downside - maybe one or two less mellow songs and perhaps one or two more rockers like Andy Taylor would have been nice, but the biggest downside is the price,on no planet can I think of where any CD is worth over 60 bucks (I felt ripped off for having to spend 40)

the bottom line - If you can find this at a reasonable price (30 bucks or under) grab it in a hurry,it's very hard to find and the songs are most definitely worth having, but I would never spend over 60...check it out,the donutman says so!!!

Worth the price. I used to have this soundtrack on tape, which got ruined, and on a whim, found this. I think it is well worth the money to get this soundtrack. All the tracks are pure 80's rock. Can't miss!
