Best trance mix this year..., May 1 2008

If you love melodic progressive trance it doesn't get much better than this. Schulz shows why he's one of the best trance DJ's around at the moment with this awesome mix of some of the sweetest sounds around. Stand out tracks are Blue Skies With Linda and Mr White. Disc one even features a track by a resident DJ, TyDi, at my local club Family in Brisbane (which was also treated to an awesome gig by Tiesto last week!!). Apart from all that if you love trance this is a must have album for 08!!!I have it on high rotation and never get sick of it... love it!!

Both CDs are excellent. Very progressive sound with almost no vocals on both CDs (vs some 2xCDs now and days where 1 CD is trance/vocal and the other CD is progressive trance/house/electro). No bad or weak tracks - very solid.Other good CDs out now are Above & Beyond's "Anjunabeats 5" and more recently released Cosmic Gate's "Back 2 Back 3".

I'm a huge fan of Markus but this compilation never really takes off. Listening to it reminds me of playing Nintendo back in the early 90's. The tracks are nothing more but a few repeated drums and synths mixed together. There are no vocals (which may be a good thing depending on the compilation) but on this one, it only makes it worse.You get tired of listening to it less than halfway through it, while awaiting for that one track that will lift this comp up, except that track never really comes. After you're done listening to it you feel like you're back in the beginning, in other words, it never really changes. No wonder none of the tracks contained in this one were successful.
Miami and Ibiza are much better compilations by Markus which I strongly recommend instead of this one. Let's see what Markus will bring us for 2009.
