3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, April 14 2008
By Pamela Mckinnon "Traveling Pam" (Vancouver Canada) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Absolute Scandal (Paperback)
I enjoyed parts of this book. Learned a lot about Lloyds of London, how it operates, etc. but I found the book far too long with too many characters. It was good that Vincenzi listed her characters and their connections to each other at the front of the book because I had to keep referring it to it. The book tells the stories of various people affected by the then financial problems at Lloyds. However, I felt that there were too many little subplots and story lines that really could have been left out because they were just not necessary to get the point across. For instance the young hairdresser girl, just didn't get why her story went on and on. It would have made another book entirely. Bottom line? Too many characters, too much detail, and some characters quite unrealistic. And this coming for a Penny Vincenzi fan. I did find the title very appropriate. What happened with Lloyds of London and the Names was indeed An Absolute Scandal!
