The writing style is especially accessible to the average undergraduate, it seems to me. The exercises at the end of each chapter are also especially helpful, and I very much liked the case study format the featured three hypothetical students.

Not Recommended as a Textbook

I adopted Introduction to the Bible as my textbook for a 100-level Bible survey course at a four-year liberal arts college, and I have been sorely disappointed. While the content is generally sound and the approach and coverage suitable for the course, the price is absurdly high for what you get (even with Amazon's generous discount). There are no additional resources for instructors, and the book's design is aesthetically uninviting, which makes it all the more difficult to get students to do the reading.

If you want a good beggining to the historical bible, this will not lead you astray. Full of useful information and unbiased in it's approach, by far the best book of it's kind that I have come across.

Not a good study source for a 3 unit Intro to Bible class. Would be fine for use if pursing more in depth study. Language is very cumbersome. Just not at the correct stage of learning to get the most out of this resource.
