Book Description

May 9 2012
Yoko Ono created An Invisible Flower when she was just nineteen years old, at the very start of her artistic career. Recently rediscovered in her archive by her son, Sean Lennon, who also provides a foreword, this jewel of a book tells the heartwarming story of the invisible beauty we all know is there-and of the one man, "Smelty John", who catches sight of it. Written years before Ono met John Lennon, An Invisible Flower offers a glimpse into the early process of a brilliant conceptual artist and, it will transpire, presages the love of her life. Simple pastel drawings complement the book's affirming message, and a new afterword by Ono makes this small treasure even more special.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful storybook for adults and children - with a surprise. Jun 13 2012
By WireChairsMissing - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
For: John Cage, conceptual art, Beatles, Yoko Ono music AND art fans alike. This is a 'storybook' found by Sean Ono Lennon that incredibly foreshadows Yoko's eventual union with John. It's a post- WW2 meditation in essence, but really, a meditation applicable to anyone dealing with loss, and finding love in the midst of that despair. The Cage-inspired artwork is gorgeous.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'SIMPLY' BEAUTIFUL! July 19 2012
By FAMOUS NAME - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is a truly, very simple, yet beautiful book - as can only be expected from Yoko!

Enormously great value - large quality hardback and binding with dust cover - simply GORGEOUS to own! I could not believe the low price of this amazing Item...

This is the story - using art, about the presence of an `invisible flower' which is told in the form of some simple impressive art from this great conceptual artist - along with simple words and isolated sentences.

I LOVE this book, because it's very convincing; one is left feeling that this invisible flower really exists among us all - and is all around us and the flower will represent many different things to many different people. It's unique and very personal, and I loved Sean's idea of getting this out in print for us all to treasure and enjoy - Thanks Sean!

There may or may not be a connection with Yoko's meeting here with John Lennon, but one thing is for certain; this book was written a whole decade before they'd met each other - yet the name `John' is there - and so is his presence - fascinating...

I loved the mushrooms and the BEAUTIFUL vibrant 'one early dawn'.

Thanks Yoko - you're always having great `feel good' influence in my life!

3.0 out of 5 stars Under expectations Aug 1 2012
By MJ - Published on Amazon.com

Maybe is the fact that I respect Y.O. too much, but I'll say I expected better. I wondered how yoko was during her teenage years, and the answer is she was good, she was a proto-artist...
but the drawings in this book are basically doodles (4year old like)and has very little text.

HONESTLY...
If you are a hard core Y.O. fan you may find it fascinating.
If you are a bit into Y.O., you will think the book is OK.
If you're a casual reader... you may think it's just trash...

(EDIT: i've added pictures of it to the gallery, check them out)
