Angel Tarot Cards [Cards]

I was anxious to receive this deck. Being all the cards were supposed to be friendly, gentle, and safe, I was curious to see how Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine interpreted the traditional Tarot cards. The deck is a full 78 cards, and are the same size(3.5" x 5")and card stock as all of Doreen's Oracle cards, which does make this deck a little difficult to shuffle. The images on these cards are quite detailed and stunning, so I can see why they wanted to use the larger cards. There are keywords on the bottom of each card which makes this deck great for beginners of Tarot. The court cards not only have the keywords listed, but at the top there are 4 'personality' traits associated with that card; this is a plus for those that have trouble with court cards.

Examples:

Five of Air (swords) says: An unwise choice. Learn what you can from this situation. Review everyone's motives.

Four of Earth (pentacles) says: Being too frivolous or too cautious with money. Good business decisions. Giving to those less fortunate.

Page of Fire (wands) says: Outgoing, Creative, Confident, Mischievous and News of an exciting new endeavour. Use your originality and ingenuity.

The suits of the Minor Arcana are Fire (wands), Water (cups), Air (swords), and Earth (pentacles). The courts are the traditional Page, Knight, Queen, & King.

Fire = Dragons
Water = Mermaids
Air = Unicorns
Earth = Faeries

Each suit of the Minor Arcana cards are a different colour, which is a really nice aspect. The Major Arcana is purple. For those who follow the traditional Rider-Waite numbering it might be a little disappointing to find out that in this deck, Justice and Strength are switched with Justice being card 8 and Strength moving to card 11. Each of the Major Arcana are associated with an Archangel and some have been renamed to make them gentler. They are as follows:

15 - The Devil is referred to as Ego'

It's important to note that while most of the cards do depict the symbolism of Tarot, this doesn't have the feel of a typical Tarot Deck, but more of a oracle deck; not just because of the size but also the look of the images and the keywords on each card, etc. While this is a Tarot deck on all accounts, I was definitely expecting something different than what was in the box. However, overall this is a very nice deck and if you like other Doreen Virtue decks and are interested in adding a friendly and stunning Tarot deck to your collection, it's definitely one to consider.

I was extremely pleased with these tarot cards and somehow doubt I could do them the justice they deserve in a review, but I will try. The artwork by Steve Roberts is beautiful! Each card is imbued with his fantastical 'vision' for each part of the major and minor arcana that, for some reason, I relate to on a subconscious level. The Major Arcana are numbered, yes, but they also feature an archangel associated with the card's message. The traditional swords, wands, pentacles and cups in the Minor Arcana (along with many images or words that could be considered threatening, like the Devil) are replaced by less threatening ones. In this deck, swords are unicorns, which are swordlike; Wands are fire, represented by colorful dragons; Pentacles are earth, represented by fairies; and, cups are represented with water and mermaids. It is interesting to note that the water cards still often show cups and there are pentacle-like images on the Earth cards.
The colors are vibrant. The depictions are whimsical and contain great detail allowing the reader to obtain more insight than the card's explanation will allow.
Finally, certain cards have been replaced with 'friendlier' versions...The Devil card has been replaced with 'Ego' and the Archangel Jophiel, the dreaded Death card has been replaced by 'Release' and the Archangel Azrael, and The Tower card has been replaced by 'Life Experience' and Archangel Chamuel. Each card is a story all on its own and I hope you will enjoy 'telling yours' in your readings. Love, love, love them!

This is an accurate deck. I got the card matching my issue, and this was the very first reading. Also I am glad that Doreen created the positive Tarot deck, it has everything original, except for the illustrations and the interpretations, etc. Although I was puzzled by some of the illustrations, since some creatures look like magic faeries rather than Angels, for example, the ones corresponding to the Earth element. I am not a Tarot expert, maybe not just yet, but I love cards. There many cards on the market, but Doreen's Tarot are a great start for someone who likes a positive looking image and an angelic interpretation for the card. Each card actually has a corresponding message from a particular angel, so if you draw one card a day, for example, you know who is communicating with you today, such as, an Angel, or Archangel. The messages a still deep, even though there no traditional, strong or upsetting images. You still get the detailed guidance from an angelic realm! It is also good to have an updated tarot deck, created by someone who lives in these current times, in this century.
