Anne Rice returns to the mesmerizing storytelling that has captivated readers for more than three decades with this new novel — the first book in a new series called “Songs of the Seraphim.”

Angel Time is a dark, suspenseful novel about angels, reluctant assassins and a journey of redemption.

Toby O’Dare — a.k.a. Lucky the Fox — has fallen far from grace. He is a contract killer who carries out violence whenever and wherever he is told, a soulless soul who takes orders from someone he calls “The Right Man.” When a mysterious stranger comes into Lucky’s nightmarish world and offers him a chance to save lives rather than destroy them, Lucky seizes the opportunity to escape the darkness. He is lifted in (angel) time and carried back through the ages to the primitive and treacherous world of thirteenth-century England, where Jews live an uneasy existence. He begins a journey that leads him from the medieval villages of England to the cities of London and Paris as his quest becomes a story of danger and flight, loyalty and betrayal, selflessness and love.

Review

"Once again, Anne Rice has created a masterpiece that both invites and provokes the reader.... Rice's written words ebb and flow, like a cello being plucked; pulsing emotion toward the reader with the rise and fall of each tome as it pulls you in deeper and deeper.... Angels are the new vampires."
—The Examiner

"Thrilling, richly researched.... Zips along to a very grand finale. Even nonbelievers will feel divinely entertained."

5.0 out of 5 stars Angel Time ... a story of Redemption Jan 18 2010
Format:Hardcover
I loved Angel Time. Usually I'm a slow reader but I read this book in 1 day. I couldn't put it down. It was a bit hard to get into at the beginning but after the first 50 pages or so I was hooked. It is a story about an assassin who is approached by an angel during a murder. This angel tells him all about his life & then asks him to join God's side by assisting the angel with an assignment which will change history. It involves time travel & a whole lot of suspense. It is a story of redemption ... the redemption of an assassin.

The novel was just "okay"...very slow in some parts. It had a few interesting twists and a "message" at the end of the book. All in all, just okay...

Anne, sorry to say but you should have hung them up after the vampire series. Overall kind of boring and little is revealed. Not looking forward to anything she writes ever again.
