Casting a critical gaze over the exploitation of animals in agriculture, fashion, and entertainment, this manifesto investigates Canada's antiquated laws for such industries as the fur trade, seal hunting, the Calgary Stampede, puppy mills, horse slaughter, and the virtually unregulated vivisection industry. The book advocates an abolitionist agenda; promotes veganism as a personal and political commitment; shows the economic, environmental, and health costs of animal exploitation; and presents animal rights as a social justice issue.

treatment of animals in Canada,
By
This review is from: Animal Rights (Paperback)
How very eye opening it was to read this thoughtful, well written book. So much of the information out there on animal rights is from an American perspective so it was very refreshing to hear the truth about how Canada treats animals. It is presented in a straightforward, uncomplicated manner and comes highly recommended to anyone interested in any aspects of the humane treatment of animals.

Must read to all canadians,
This review is from: Animal Rights (Paperback)
Great book. If you think that animal use/exploitation/abuse against animals is only in other countries-this book proves that is NOT the case. Canada's animal right laws are old!! Many shames outlined in the book: the seal hunt, allowing people to still hunt and kill polar bears, vivesection....yes it all goes on in the true north strong and free!! Read this!! and yes he is vegan!! Loved this book....
