Nothing short of brilliant,

This review is from: Animation Unleashed: 100 Principles Every Animator, Comic Book Writer, Filmmaker, Video Artist, and Game Developer Should Know (Paperback)
This is truly, a great book -- It would interest any animator or cartoonist -- or any artist for that matter. The layout is excellent ... you turn a page like entering a room and each room is another wonderful story about how to be an animator ..... Ellen is on the left with her educational knowledge ... and Bryce is on the right with his intuitive drawings. Then you open the door for another story. This book is designed so that you can absorb one theory at a time and the landscape shape of the book makes it easy to jump from side to side. Buy this book ! -- You will not be disappointed.

a really good book,
This review is from: Animation Unleashed: 100 Principles Every Animator, Comic Book Writer, Filmmaker, Video Artist, and Game Developer Should Know (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book. it's different form many animation books in that it's about using the animation to effectively tell stories as opposed to just "here's how to animate a walk cycle". I think it goes well as a companion book to many of these other animation books and writing books to inspire your creative process as you create your animated film. I definitely recommend it.

This book is an excellent resource for animators, film makers and comics fans alike. Ellen Besen does an great job of giving specific examples, relating to well known films, to illustrate the concepts she is attempting to convey. Topics cover a wide variety from caricature (including caricaturing the backgrounds), designing worlds, character design, acting, camera angles, titles, special effects, sound, editing and more.I would recommend this book to any animation, or film student or any fellow filmmakers/animators out there....and i'm not in any way biased. heh ok maybe just a little. :)
