Thompson, and, later, capturing the last candid moments of John Lennon's life with Yoko Ono. It closes with her reflections on life, children, and the wake of her relationship with Sontag. Life Through a Lens works as a piercing, intimate bio of a woman who has become as iconic as the people she photographs, and as a cultural snapshot of America and celebrity during the most turbulent, rebellious decades.

This DVD is beautifully filmed and produced. It chronicles the storied career and amazing talent of Annie Leibovitz whose spectacular photographs have appeared in magazines all over the world. She is probably best known for her work with Rolling Stone magazine and Vanity Fair. However, it is her work as a photo journalist that is some of her most poignant work of all. As a photographer myself and a fan of her work, I was delighted by the insight into her life and career as well as the cameo appearances of her subjects who had interesting accounts of how the photo sessions went. I won't give them away, but their stories are well worth hearing and some may even inspire a chuckle or two.
