Not illustrated. 1839 Excerpt: ...Sable, three bull's heads cabossed Or, stands near the Bishop's, inscribed with a Latin epitaph; by which it appears that her sufferings and fortitude in those fanatic times and during her husband's exile were of no common order. It was erected by their son Dr. Robert Creyghton, Precentor and Canon, who composed a fine Service and some Anthems for the use of the Cathedral. His sister Catherine married Francis Poulett, Esquire, son of the first Lord Poulett (vide Collins's Peerage), and his daughter Frances married Marshall Brydges, Canon and Chancellor, third son of Marshall Brydges, Esquire, of Tiberton Court, Herefordshire, which, with other valuable estates, for many generations in the Brydges family, devolved upon the Canon's grandson and the Bishop's great-grandson, the late F. W. T. Brydges, Esquire, whose eldest daughter and coheiress Anne, carried them in marriage to Mr. Henry Lee Warner, eldest son of the late Henry Lee Warner, Esquire, of Walsingham Abbey, Norfolk; and who, upon his father's decease in 1835, succeeded to those extensive estates.0 Another daughter married Dr. Layng, Archdeacon, &c. Another the Rev. John Pope, Chancellor, &c. and the Rev Westley, all buried in Wells Cathedral under flat stones; that over the vault of Marshall and Frances Brydges, is sculptured with the Brydges arms, Argent, a cross Sable, charged with a leopard's face Or, impaling those of Creyghton. His arms, Ermine, a lion rampant Azure, impaled with the arms of the see, and surmounted with a mitre, are inscribed on a tablet above his tomb.
