Something for Everyone, Dec 4 2009
This review is from: The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook, Fourth Edition (Paperback)
A lot of self-help books are hit or miss because they give you one or two strategies for solving a problem. Not so with this book- that's because its a workbook. This means the book takes a problem, and gives you MANY different strategies and ways of solving it. I'm a big fan of workbooks, simply because there's something for everyone. If you don't like strategy "A", well, then just move on and try strategy "B" or "C". Here's a few more specifics about the book...
-you take a self diagnosis questionnaire to help you identify which anxiety disorder you may be dealing with
-you will learn about the causes of anxiety disorders, including triggers and maintaining causes
-the book proposes a multi-level comperehensive approach that addresses different levels of contributing causes (physical, emotional, behavioral, mental, interpersonal, whole-self, and spiritual
-you can use the weekly practice records to monitor your own program
-the bulk of the book is esentially a bunch of strategies that you can choose from, such as breathing exercises, desensitization, physical exercise (also highly recommend
Exercise Beats Depression for more on that), self-talk, and visualization
As you can see, the book takes a very comprehensive approach to getting the reader better and most are bound to find at least find one or two techniques that will really hit the nail on the head. Five stars easy.

Awesome book, Feb 23 2010
This review is from: The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook, Fourth Edition (Paperback)
I was recommended to purchase this book from one of my counselor's after struggling with very bad anxiety and panic attacks. At first we were not sure what it was all caused from, however after talking with several counselors they were able to pinpoint where the anxiety started and built up over the years to lead to its worst. Long story short I witnessed my best friend get impaled through the heart with a fallen tree about 20 cm in diameter and then more recently came across a motor vehicle accident and was first on scene only to find 2 16 year old girls killed in the crash, and it was not a pretty sight. So from suffering these traumatic events I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. My one counselor had showed me this book (her copy) and told me that every single person she had recommended it to has almost completely gotten rid of their anxiety issues. I have now finished the book and can honestly say that i feel 110% better and have gone from 3-4 anxiety or panic attacks per week down to maybe one per month. This book is jam packed with useful information and will be kept close by all the time as is is also a great reference book to look back on. I would give it a solid 10/10. Another book recommended is called Don't Panic by Reid Wilson and I have yet to purchase it, however it comes highly recommended by my counselor and my doctor. So in the end if you are considering this book, I would not even think twice. Buy it and you won't regret.

Don't be anxious about this purchase!, Aug 17 2009
This review is from: The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook, Fourth Edition (Paperback)
This is a really helpful book for figuring out just where you fall in the anxiety/phobia spectrum. I found it very comforting and useful to help allay fears. I borrowed one from a friend and found it so helpful that I went to Amazon to get my own. Just do it. You'll be glad you did.
