"You'll love this book! Expect to be captured in the first few pages. Need a reminder of God's plan to use little things to make a big difference? Then dig in." (New York Times bestselling author, on The Penny Max Lucado )

Book Description

Sarah Harper is driven to achieve success no matter what the cost. She wants to do good and not hurt the people she loves--especially children and her husband, Joe--but her desire to succeed in her career too often leaves little time for family.
One cold, autumn afternoon, all of that changes when Sarah's car plunges off a bridge and into a river. She is presumed dead by those on the "outside," but Sarah's spirit is still very much alive. What she discovers on the other side transforms everything about Sarah's view of life--past, present, and future.
When Sarah is revived, she is a changed woman. And the unsuspecting world around her will never be the same again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good solid read, July 23 2011
This review is from: Any Minute: A Novel (Hardcover)
I liked the story and found it to be a simple read but one that had a few eye opening "aha" moments. I found the development of Sarah's mother Jane to be most intriguing and wish only that got to hear, see and experience that side of the story more, from the mother-daughter aspect.

I felt like this was a good story more for a new Christian or someone exploring a faith filled life with Christ at the centre.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read, April 5 2011
This review is from: Any Minute: A Novel (Hardcover)
This is a character-driven story. The story takes a while to build up, but it's worth it. Many of us live life as if we're constantly driving on the highway. We forget to calm down, to cherish the people around us and to spread happiness. Saying sincere thank yous, paying for someone else's coffee, thinking of the less fortunate ... Our time with others isn't infinite, and we take many things for granted.

At first, I was annoyed with Sarah because I couldn't believe she's letting so many things pass her by, but she grows as a character. I don't want to spoil anything, but maybe this story is a contemporary look at Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I also didn't like how her husband Joe approached the matter about Sarah's behaviour. He could have chosen his words more carefully, but everything seems to happen for a reason.

I like her son Mitchell. He's an innocent boy who doesn't want to see his parents fight. He also believes in angels. He happens to see one helping out with the scoreboards at the Cubs baseball game, but his parents attribute this to his wild imagination. Even though this book is considered christian fiction, I enjoyed it. There aren't any biblical references or anything of that sort, but simply that there is someone watching over you and that everyone is loved.

This is an easy read. If you're living on the fast lane and barely taking care of yourself, let alone those who are around you, you might want to consider slowing down and taking in the sights, literally. If you like contemporary christian fiction, give this one a shot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspiration for Everyone, July 11 2009
By Theresa M. Studer "Terra57" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Any Minute: A Novel (Audio CD)
Any Minute by Joyce Meyer, Deborah Bedford is a inspirational story of one woman's drive to succeed no matter what the costs. A story of insecurity and child hood emotional abuse that will send Sarah into turmoil and making her see that faith is all it takes to overcome what has been done.

Sarah Harper is motivated, ruthless and in all reality self destructive. Mother of two beautiful children and wife of a husband that most of us would treasure she has been blinded to the gifts she has by the drive to prove to herself and others that she really does have great worth. Unfortunately for Sarah she can't see what she has even though it is right in front of her face.

It's not until one unfortunate day and one unfortunate event that Sarah is faced with the realization that she must make a choice of who and what she was and who and what she can be if she is to be given a second chance at life. One life altering event to prove to her that God the Father is indeed listening and watching what she does to herself, her family and all those who come in her path on a daily basis.

Can she see what destructive behavior has been driving her and change this before it is too late? Can she accept the faith of God and Jesus to guide her on the right path for her, her family and all those lives she touches each and every day?

With the help of one old man who is one of God's treasured angels, the spirit of her beloved Grandmother Annie and the innocent love of her small son she will have a chance to redeem herself and have that second chance if she can just accept the faith that God and Jesus do indeed love her just as she is.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Story about Christian Transformation, Aug 15 2009
By Story Circle Book Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Any Minute: A Novel (Hardcover)
This is a story about a near-death experience and how it brought love and compassion back to fractured family. The heroine a workaholic and a perfectionist behaved selfishly and irrationally. After an accident in which she drowns is restored to health, she shares her experience and her family experiences a spiritual transformation and return to God.

The story moves along nicely and is told simplistically but was, at times, somewhat preachy. Nevertheless I admit to shedding some tears and being inspired by the book.

This review is from: Any Minute: A Novel (Hardcover)
This book is a must read for all of us workaholics. I borrowed it from the local library and then purchased a copy to give to a friend. I pray that all who read this book, will take time to give God thanks and then spend time with their family and friends. Quality of a person's life is much more important than money.

Faith in God to provide and remember God is in control, not man.
