Marjorie Majors hadn't been to a doctor since she was fourteen. Luckily she'd been healthy as a horse since then -- because illness made people vulnerable, and fiercely independent Marjorie didn't want to need anyone. But then fate in the form of appendicitis forced her into the gentle hands of Dr. Sam Bretton.
True, Sam's bedside manner would inspire confidence in anybody, but that didn't explain why Marjorie's pulse raced whenever he stepped into the room. And when he requested she find herself another physician, the sudden pain that tore through her heart seemed sharper than any surgeon's knife ... until the good doctor offered her a prescription that promised a lifetime of healthy loving.

Although it's realistic for patients to develop crushes on their doctors, the health care professional in me had a hard time accepting that a doctor would pursue a romantic relationship with his patient. It's to Debbie Macomber's credit that this storyline never crossed the line into the unethical. Both protagonists maintained the proper decorum in this situation, and the story was sweetly romantic. Well done!
