Although I did not purchase this product on amazon, I did purchase it at a local retailer. I have had it for 2 years now and can honestly say that I do not want to go back to windows.

Pros: Fast, durable shell (taken many dents and scratches due to falling and dropping things on it), graphics are great, operating system is easy to use and has many shortcuts that make simple tasks faster, backlit keyboard is nice for in the dark, magsafe adapter is a huge plus. The sound quality is great on the speakers. And the size is perfect for what I'm looking for, its not too big or too small.

Cons: Approximately a year and a half after purchasing, the hard drive started to fail. Fortunately I know quite a bit about testing and replacing hard drives. I was able to replace the hard drive, reinstall the operating system, and restore all my personal files. I would suggest having some sort of backup of all your personal files in case this does happen (you should already!). NOTE: I hardly ever turn off my macbook pro. It gets left on for days at a time, so that is a main contributor to my failing hard drive. Overall, it cost about $120 to fix. That is just for the hard drive though, I did the work myself. For someone who doesn't know how to do it, you would have to get someone to do it for you.
Now that the computer is at the 2 year mark, I have been noticing for the last 2 months, the outer protective layer on the magsafe adapter (end that connects to the computer) is fraying and splitting (much like iPhone/ipod cords. If you've ever had one do that, you know what I'm talking about). This seems to be a common problem with almost all apple products. But keep in mind, my mac has been through hell and back. So this may not happen to you.

Expensive to buy Expensive to own. Less then 3 years of light use the battery stopped charging. after taking it in a new battery did not help - the logic board was the cause. 2 months later the wireless started failing. 6 months later the power adapter started failing now the computer shuts off at will any time for no reason. Apple did not support at all. Very disappointing for an expensive computer. The reason for the 2 stars and not 1 is the computer is great to own after years of window system. OS is great. never crashes. never had a virus, just wish the computer was better made or replacment parts were cheaper. over 700.00 for a logic board!!! but reading the stories of way labor is treated could explain a lot,

Let me start off by saying that the product in general is not a bad product. It's decently fast, and has a nice touchpad plus retina display. HOWEVER the reason I gave this 2 stars is because of the price. Over a thousand dollars for this? Really? You are pretty much buying a regular laptop with the mac OS plus retina display with a picture of a half eaten apple on the back of it. It's just not worth it. You can get a lenovo laptop for 3x less expensive with 4x the power, not joking. I would not recommend this, but it is not at all a bad computer. I actually love the mac os, just the price is ridiculous. There's my 2 cents.

Verified Purchase
I am now starting to understand how it works (it is the first time I have a Mac of my own). I feel it is a new horizon in PC experience. Thank you very much for asking.

All the best,

Jose Burucua
