Format: Hardcover
This charming book extends far beyond the usual "A is for apple" alphabet book. Instead, it uses the alphabet as a foundation on which to build the sweet story of a dog attempting to get a taste of an apple pie:

E eager for it
F find a crumb of it
G get a taste for it
H have to get a lick of it
I in trouble

The stylish illustrations enhance the text and bring the dog's antics to life. A fresh and creative take on the ABCs!

So much more than "A is for Apple, B is for Bear" Dec 13 2011
By E. Strickenburg - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Full of charm and sweet simplicity, this is far more than just an ABC book. The alphabet is just the structural foundation: on top of it is built the delightful story of a dog attempting to get a taste of freshly baked apple pie. It's a bit like a poem:

E eager for it
F find a crumb of it
G get a taste for it
H have to get a lick of it
I in trouble

The stylish illustrations blend well with text, filling out the story of a curious dog's antics. If you're looking for a fresh and creative take on teaching the alphabet - and a sweet story to boot - this is the book for you.
Naughty Dog! Dec 29 2012
By C. Weimer - Published on
Format: Hardcover
My 3-year old loves this book and asks us to read it quite a lot. While she doesn't appreciate the alphabet concept, she loves the story of the naughty dog pining and scheming for pie! The only part I didn't like (so I changed it when I read it) is **SPOILER COMING** . . . When the dog eats the pie and gets away with it. In my version, he gets put outside. ;) Cute book nonetheless!
An ABC book that tells a story Dec 22 2013
By rachel (wildflower) - Published on
Format: Board book
Unlike other ABC books this one tells a story. It is quite unique and playful, and the best part is X is not xylophone. In this book each letter is not a thing but an action, or a feeling. As a nanny I have never seen an ABC book like this one, and I love it. Very creative and wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving us a different kind of ABC book.

I was looking for a Fall themed book to put in my grandkids' Halloween goodie sacks. This fit the bill for the toddlers. It became my one grandson's go to book to take to bed. The kids' get a kick out of the naughty dogs antics. Definitely a new take on an alphabet book.
