Product Description

Review

"Applied Kinesiology is something that can be performed with knowledge, with physiological facts, and with predictable certainty. It should be done, it can be done, and this book offers a means and a measure of how it’s done."
—George J. Goodheart, DC, Founder of Applied Kinesiology

"Robert Frost accurately describes AK the way medical doctors and chiropractors perform it. This is the best introduction to Applied Kinesiology I’ve ever seen!"
—Dr. Rudolf Meierhofer, International Medical Society for Applied Kinesiology

"This book presents the basic techniques of AK in a manner simple enough for the lay person to understand, and clearly enough to be used as a reference for the AK practitioner. It provides a good bridge for many kinesiologists to learn about classical AK."
—Wolfgang Gerz, MD, Past President of ICAK-D, International College of Applied Kinesiology, Germany

5.0 out of 5 stars Great introduction to Applied Kinesiology April 12 2003
Format:Paperback
Robert Frost's AK manual is lean and to the point. It gives the history of AK, how AK is used in Europe and the USA, theory into the mechanisms of the reflexes used in AK, basic therapeutic procedures with explainations, and clear diagrams of the basic muscle tests and the appropriate reflexes. A perfect complement to the 100 hour course. I recommend this book to any student or practioner in health care who is looking to expand their skill set.

2.0 out of 5 stars Applied Kinesiology is different from Kinesiology April 6 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have only read the first few pages but Amazon wants a review so: The book has a nice weight to it, the pages are nice and dry with nothing but paper (no food particles or raspberry jam) and some ink in strategic places. The number of pages seem appropriate, I would account 4 to be too few (unless the print was really small) but a couple thousand would just be too much. I'm sure as I read the book I will form a better opinion on what words the ink marks make, but the first few pages seem okay and without too much New Age tomfoolery. The cover is quite nice as well, very shiny and probably mustard-proof. The book has no noticeable odor or taste so I cannot determine what kind of wine should be served with it. Looking forward to reading it!

edited: I have read more and have discovered that there is a large difference between Kinesiology and "Applied" Kinesiology. I bought this book hoping that it would help me pre-read before I started with my degree in Kinesiology and working with Prosthetics, however "Applied" Kinesiology will not help me as it is an Alternative Medicine comparable to Homeopathy and Chiropractic. Interesting, but not my goal.

If you are not familiar with AK and have some anatomy and physiology knowledge, this book will do. It has everything you need to know with a good section on muscle testing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book, even the introduction is worth the cover price Dec 20 2008
By DurgaDas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Not being a practitioner of Applied Kinesiology, I read this book as a way to grasp the fundamental concepts of movement to integrate into the way I teach yoga and view psychology through the lens of the body.

What I got from this book mostly was a very Yoga-like understanding of biological medicine's scope. That one paragraph is worth the cover price of the book for me. I hope to explore it more in depth and specificity with time.
