Good characters and a good story, however you have to keep one's wits about you to follow the thread of the tale thro' the different time periods; worth the effort. Recommended!

DAVID DRAKE HAS TRIED A DIFFERENT TOPIC IN HIS WRITING. I FIND STORIES ABOUT TIME TRAVEL NOT TO BE VERY CONVINCING. DRAKE HAS NOT SUCCEEDED. ALTERNATED FUTURES CAUSED BY FUTURE TIME TRAVELERS DOES NOT FIT WELL. FIGHT SCENES ARE NOT WORTHY OF HAMMERS SLAMMERS. ON THE WHOLE I AM HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME TO FINISH THIS BOOK. I THINK THAT HE HAS LOST THE KNACK FOR WRITING GOOD FICTION. THIS IS HIS SECOND BOOK THAT I CAN NOT RECOMMEND.
