Great Vintage Archie Cartoons, Nov 2 2011
This review is from: Archie:Compl.Original Seri (DVD)
I bought this without having watched a minute of the original show, and simply due to my kids being big Archie fans. We were not disappointed, and this series is as close as you can get to recreating the comic books and digests in animated form. Plus, there are truly kitsch segments like the "Dance of the Week" and the Archie's singing their latest tune, both of which are classic late-60's gems.
There are a few niggles that took a star off, such as Veronica's "Southern Belle" voice, and the near-absence of some popular characters (Moose appears only a few times), including the total absence of others like Midge, but overall, I highly recommend this for fans of the comics. My kids absolutely love it, and have played the DVDs so many times the case has started to fall apart.
Just skip the horrible Archie's Funhouse Season 2 fiasco (which is where "Sugar Sugar" and other hits aired BTW), and move right onto the Sabrina spinoff.

where's sugar sugar?, Jun 20 2010
This review is from: Archie:Compl.Original Seri (DVD)
Overall, this series just isn't as good as I remember (way back when). I loved the music, and there's still plenty of it (and it's worthwhile), but where's the Sugar Sugar theme song? (I don't understand how they could put out this dvd set without the Archies' signature song.) As for bonus material, there is an interview featurette with producer Lou Scheimer and he even refers to the Archies' massive hit as well as Jingle Jangle, (but neither appear on this set which is ironically called "The Complete Series"). That big disappointment aside, there are also "jukebox" features on both discs.

Archie & Gang, Feb 22 2008
This review is from: Archie:Compl.Original Seri (DVD)
The Archie Show was a classic 60's show with its song and dance craze. But if they would have left that out and added another cartoon sequence that would have made this cartoon a whole lot better. Plus the voices took a little getting used to. Whoever did Veronica shouldn't have. So with this cartoon you may have to force yourself to continue after the third show because I nearly stopped there but it was worth watching the rest of this collection. That is why this is a 3 star out of 5 than better than that.
