Leaky (though stylish) Mailbox

I ordered this mailbox for it's great classic looks and sturdy construction. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that it would make my mail wet and crumpled. I live in a very rainy area, and the rain somehow always gets inside and gets all of my mail wet. Plus, the way the slot is situated, the mailperson always ends up jamming all of my mail into the slot and it gets all crushed. I was better off with my old clunky, ugly, but effiecient box. Now, even though the front of my house looks better, I have crumpled crushed wet mail.

this is a very sturdy mailbox. I bought this to protect my mail. Someone in my neighborhood stole a check from my open mailbox, washed the check, and then cashed it. Its somewhat expensive, but well worth the price. I've tried cheaper locked mailboxes in the past, but they were smaller and you could still get to the mail by sticking your fingers through the mail slot. Not so for this mailbox.

The mailbox is a good as far as its looks and it's function of having a large inbox slot, but when it rains the mail gets wet. This poses a problem of having return envelopes (to send back bill payments)adhevsive getting stuck, thus making them unusable. It also becomes a hassle when a newspaper or magazine gets wet, and becomes unreadable. Buy one with a better seal, or make sure its not exposed to the elements.
