Product Description

This is the fifth studio album from Children Of Bodom. Lead singer Alexi Laiho told Finland's Soundi magazine that 'Are You Dead Yet?' features some completely new influences. The follow-up to 2003's 'Hate Crew Deathroll' will 'be even more straight-forward than its predecessor and will contain some industrial elements while retaining COB's trademark sound, including the super-fast guitar and keyboard solos. Universal. 2005.

This is not a bad album but does not let me as enthusiastic as the previous efforts from the band. It lacks the spontaneity, energy and creativity that were on Follow the reaper or any other album of COB. It lasts less than 40 min and there are only 8 new tracks (LT&S was released months ago). Overall these tracks are good, some are even very interesting. Actually COB changed a bit its sound. It's not as speed (especially the solo) and Alexi is about to begin to sing! I have nothing against evolution. This is necessary and in many instances this album is worth buying. But it's definitely not their best. Perhaps they need some time to clearly establish their "new" style...

this is a great album, the songs are intense!! children of bodom have the talent of creating hard core songs without loosing a varied melody. the instrumentals are technically awesome and have a sufficient range giving each song it's own flavour and unlike a lot of other artists i don't confuse one song with another. on this album i'd have to say that my preferred track is are you dead yet?. i've loved this song for quite some time and no matter how many time i listen to it it never gets old or repetitive. next i guess would be living dead beat and trashed, lost and strung out... but honestly all the tracks are pretty good.

Bodom are back and continue to construct excellent steel. The sound is a definite continuation of the last album Hatecrew, more groove and rougher textures. While Alexei is still a witch on guitar and his singing is better than usual, the songs have more edge and an almost Hypocrsiy-feel making for a strong album but with less flash as earlier efforts. These boys will always show-off their chops but its nice to see the songwriting and playing evolve into more than a death-metal Dream Theater. Cuts: Are You Dead Yet? and If You Want Peace...Prepare for War best show what you are in for.

This album undoubtedly shows COB's growth and progression as a band. The guitars are more aggressive, the drumming is as good as ever and keyboards blend in amazingly, creating a more suspenseful sound as opposed to Hate Crew Deathroll. This is a definite step forward for the band. Each of their albums has had its own distinct sound and this one differenciates a lot but is still very much COB. Just like all their others, this album is incredible.
