This stapler uses staples that are very similar to those found in cheap, office staplers; although they do seem slightly stronger.

If you're looking for a stapler that takes heavy-duty, thick, industrial-grade staples, this is NOT it.
.
It's a great, high-quality, stapler... if you're using it to staple paper together. I wouldn't call it 'heavy-duty' though.

Best of them all April 10 2001
By Robert Sylvan - Published on Amazon.com
My P-22 is approaching 40 years old & is the absolute BEST plier type stapler I have ever used or owned, heavy duty industrial or otherwise. The only drawback has always been -- & still is -- difficulty in finding its proprietary staples. However, this has been all but alleviated with the web!! No more hunting, just a web search turns up this & various locations to get them. They were always available from the company, but until the Internet I had problems locating them (My P-22 is stamped "Brookyln, NY" and they are not there anymore --just Saddle Brook, NJ). Being on my last box of 5000, I've only used it sparingly for the tough jobs, while daily needs were met with inferior products, using readily obtainable standard --ie, easily replaced -- staples. Now that I can easily find the staples, I can return to using exclusively my P-22, the absolute BEST!!

Certain items can be defective Oct. 24 2012

I've bought several of these staplers in recent years and they've worked nicely until now. The main problem with these is its ability to get stuck on staples; meaning the staples are stucked and can't come out because it's somehow twisted in there. [I did use the compatible staples] My solution to this is to get a scissor and get them out one by one. The old one starts to have these types of problems after a year or two of use. However, the new ones that I had just purchase from amazon not only have this problem, but have another major issue as well. And that problem is the staplers' inability to move back into its original position. When I staple something, the stapler wouldn't go back open and just stays shut around the item. I work in a restaurant, I don't have the time to manually pull them apart. I'll buy another brand next time.

I am a pharmacist. Have used these in the past and they were powerful, reliable and sturdy. Spring mechanism failed in one day.

Not the workhorse they used to be June 13 2014

Bought 2, one was DEad On Arrival. (Maybe a staple snafu?) The other works very well for paper, but not great on thin cardboard like the older model we have. Used for heavy duty stapling of boxes in Flower Shop.

Fantastic Stapler For Making Sparkle Balls April 26 2014
By A. Hard - Published on Amazon.com

I make sparkle balls with this stapler very quickly. I bought it for that reason. Sparkle balls are Christmas decorations you make with plastic cups and Christmas lights. So basically it is stapling plastic cups together very well without cracking them. I can make a sparkle ball in about 45 minutes with this stapler, whereas it took me over an hour with other staplers and I was often having to pull out the staples and correct the positions. Not with this one. It is very accurate and reliable. I haven't used it for anything else but sparkle balls. But I am sure if I needed to use it for many stacks of paper, it would work extremely well too. Someone that runs a sparkle ball site told me to get this stapler as it is the best one.
