Product Description

Book Description

In the 1920s, not only were architecture and art influenced by Art Deco, fashion was, too. Designers were inspired by the stage sets of the Ballet Russes, fabric designs and costumes from Leon Bakst and creations by the Wiener Werksttte, just to name a few. Women?s increased participation in sports, along with the introduction of energetic dance styles required a different type of dress, and technical advances resulted in the availability of new fabrics. These factors played a role in a true fashion revolution: fashion designers created new silhouettes and innovative details, and used new colours and luxurious fabrics. At least as important was the use of typical Art Deco patterns for textile decoration. ART DECO FASHION DESIGN contains more than a 1,000 beautiful fashion plates, including designs from famous Art Deco designers such as Paul Poiret, Charles Worth and Jean Patou. The book comes with a free CD containing wonderful Art Deco patterns that have been meticulously restored from period orig

This book epitomises the fashion that is Art Deco. It is beautifully illustrated and shows so many different styles, fashions that you will look through it again and again and again. Then you will leave it and look through it again and again and see things that you missed before. As a budding fashion designer who is inspired by Art Deco fashion, this is truly inspirational....Great Book. Wish there were more like it for other eras.

As a knitwear designer i'm always on the lookout for new sources of inspiration. This book is packed with so many ideas i don't know where to begin. Over 400 pages of beautifully clear illustrations, some color, many black & white, with 1 to 4 or more per page. The history is clear & CONCISE, covering just 2 pages, and then the designs are allowed to speak for themselves. And what designs they are! Dresses, suits, gowns, underwear, coats, even a section on millinery, with clean, crisp detail making it simple to see exactly what the original garment was meant to become. These are not photographs of finished clothes but designer sketches showing marvelous facets of drape, ruffle, etc. If you are in need of inspiration, look no further. on a scale of 1 to 5 stars this is a 10!

The 1920s must be from my favorite fashion eras in history. This book is amazing! The sketches, designs and even the CD that is filled with old fabric patters are amazing.

One of my favorite fashion books!
