4.0 out of 5 stars The Art of The Darkness Oct 4 2010
By Parka HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Length: 0:31 Mins
This large format paperback art book collects the art for comic series The Darkness.

There are covers, card art, sketches and some concept art for the adapted game. The book has only 96 pages which is a bit thin but the beautiful artwork makes up for it. The cover art are gorgeously reproduced and printed huge.

If you have other art books from Top Cow, such as Art Of Marc Silvestri or The Art Of Top Cow (recommended), you'll find some duplication of artwork here.

The featured artists in this book are Dave Finch, Michael Turner, Whice Portacio, Joe Benitez, Marc Silvestri, Stjepan Sejic, Keu Cha, Eric Basaldua and Dale Keown.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very, Very good Oct 19 2007
By CB - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
As a big fan of comic books and comic book art, I've known for a while that the cover art of The Darkness series from Image is exceptional. How exceptional, however, was never quite known to me until I picked up "Art of the Darkness".

This large format book is beautilfully produced, printed on glossy paper, and reproducing some of the most seminal of the covers and produced for The Darkness, with such luminaries as Michael Turnes, Marc Silvestri, and Dale Keown featured, among many others. I've very impressed with this book - I certainly got much more than I was expecting, and I holds a place of honor on my bookshelf. My only complaint is that it is too short - at only 96 pages, there were a number of other excellent covers that should have been featured - as the "catalog" of covers at the end of the book attests. Otherwise, however, a great offering form Image, who continues to put out great art books. Recommended for the comic book fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Jan 6 2010
By Dax S. Torres - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is amazing. A very nice oversized artbook with images by the various artists that have illustrated this dark character since his creation. I bought this book a few year ago but am currently reviewing all of Top Cow's art books.

My only problem with this book is one similar to the Witchblade's book. Both are superb in design but many of the images (not all) present here are present in The Art of Top Cow artbook. The biggest difference would be that the solo Art of books all have insights from the various creators while TAOTC does not have any.

Still, this is a very good book but if you must pick and choose, I recommend the Art of Top Cow (Hardcover, but thats just me).

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected Oct 2 2007
By Diana Muñoz Carbonell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I bought this book thinking it would be less beautiful, but it's nice, an all right book. I had imagined it would be comic-sized but with extra pages as a big number or something, but it turned out to be a book with the size of an art book, and it does contain beautiful illustrations.

The only reaosn for which this one is not getting the five stars marker is because it could have contained more pages!!! And sketches!!! And also because it showed some ilustrations small sized in an interview, or something, but those illustrations never got to make it to a full page drawing, and they were beautiful to begin with.

But great nevertheless.
