3.0 out of 5 stars Light Suspense Regency Romance, Aug 10 2011
By L. B. Taylor - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Artful Deceptions (Paperback)
Arianne Richards' father cleaned dirt and grime from portraits that were submitted to him from wealthy patrons. He shared some of his experience with his daughter. Unfortunately for their family he was somewhat of a skinflint when it came to monies his family needed. He had been given numerous portraits over the years as commissions and he had incurred a nice collection. Unknownst to me, Arianne felt that it was OK to sell one of the older portraits to help her family. I wondered at this point what her father would say when she was able to buy things that they could not afford if she was able to sell the painting.

Practical Arianne and her beautiful cousin Melanie met up with Lord Galen Locke and his friend Rhys. Long story short, Galen offered to help Arianne, then proposed to Melanie. Rhys in a very short time offered for Arianne's hand and then he took off with little clues as to where he was going. He promises Arianne he will return.

In the meantime, the portrait is stolen. You also find out that Rhys and Melanie have feelings for each other. What will come of Galen and Arianne and is there a HEA? I plundered on because of the light suspense. The chemistry between all the lead characters was dryer than the norm for a regency romance. These factors and a muddled ending is why I rated this book three stars for OK.
