Product Description

Product Description

Following a highly successful venture in Philip Glass' soundscape, Angèle Dubeau now goes on the trail of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Frequently referred to as meditative, Pärt prefers to describe his music as a light going through a prism, every listener perceiving it in a different way. Angèle Dubeau is revisiting Tabula rasa, Spiegel im Spiegel and Pilgrim's Song. An essential album for this era when nothing seems to be stoppable.

“I could compare my music to white light which contains all colours. Only a prism can divide the colours and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener.

From the Artist

I could compare my music to white light which contains all colours. Only a prism can divide the colours and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener. (Arvo Pärt)

This album contains a piece of music I'd heard on the radio and just had to have. The entire collection is peaceful and calming in my hectic day. I listen in the car when I'm stuck in traffic. Or put on the CD when I'm working late at my computer and want to treat myself as I do. I recommend this for anyone who's willing to listen. Exquisitely done.

This is a classy album full of classic Part as well a few songs I had never heard before (Pilgrim's song and the Mozart piece). Dubeau is magnificent as conductor and lead violinist.

This music has helped me get through some difficult times and keep my sanity. Stillness in the midst of motion.

Pour tout contemporain qui aime le classique de musique actuel. J'aime bien découvrir ce genre de musique. Le prix était inférieur au magasin et je l'ai eu livré chez-moi. Donc pas eu de file d'attente en magasin

A Way to Relax July 18 2010
By Eclectic Allen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
If you have ever sought classical music as a way to relax, Mozart is not the only source. A relatively unknown contemporary classical composer, Arvo Part, has written beautiful and relaxing music. But make no mistake -- he is a 20th century composer, not of the Haydn/Mozart era. The last piece on this CD is called Spiegel im Spiegel (Mirror on Mirror) and it alone is worth the purchase of the CD. The violin ensemble of Angele Dubeau (Canadian)interprets the music with depth. This was a wonderful discovery...

Angele Dubeau and Pieta are Great Feb. 17 2013

Arvo Part is my favorite modern composer and while I already own everything on this cd, I love Angele Dubeau and Pieta. Their interpretations of Part's music are fresh and sensitive.
Wonderfully Haunting Dec 5 2014

Perhaps I should buy the CD also since there is no information about the artist or the music with MP3. But here goes anyhow: Arvo Part as conductor appears in several classic CD's of mine and this is the first time I have heard his compositions/recompositions. This music is very calm and low key while including a wide range of strings from violin to double bass. Your subwoofer will have a work-out as the bass fills the room and fills your chest.

The first track: "Summa" I love and is very familiar. The remaining tracks are new to me and I found them wonderfully embracing though some ears might find them depressing. A 30 second preview is not enough even a 60 second preview. I suggest buying one track, "Tabula Rasa: II. Silentium" contains the mood of these pieces and the remainder are equally haunting.

I could find no fault with Angele Dubeau & La Pieta. They are transparent. Though one needs a rather large music system or high-end earphones to keep this music away from becoming small.
