Fascinating look at a too-often idealized movement

Think Hinduism is open, tolerant, accepting? Think again! Not all varieties are, and Llewellyn gives us an in-depth analysis of one of the less-tolerant branches (which some people would consider not even Hindu), the Arya Samaj. Comparing it to extreme fundamentalism in Islam and Christianity (where he uses Bob Jones University), he shows the Samaj as a fundamentalist movement while simultaneously exposing all of the internal conflicts of this controversial proselytizing and exclusivist/inclusivist (but not pluralist!) Hindu sect. A fascinating read and very valuable for anyone researching the Arya Samaj.
