Indie rock from Whales, People in Planes (PiP) deliver with their first release. I listened to their second album (Beyond the Horizon) before listening to this one, and let me say I was blown away! So, my expectations were quite high for this album. After a few listens, there where quite a few songs I instantly liked like "Barracuda", "If You Talk Too Much", "Moth", "Rush", "Token Trapped Woman" and "Light for The Deadvine". This is half of the album right here. These songs are much of what I expected from PiP: catchy riffs, great vocals and originality in songwriting. The other six songs on the album are good tracks, but even after several listens, they have not appealed to me as much as the six others mentionned before. "For Miles Around" and "Falling on the Wayside" are maybe the two other songs that have grown on me, but the other tracks are only average, IMO. Considering this being their first album and having really high expectations because of the genius of the second album ( yes, it is that good), this is a very solid release with some great material and some of the best songwriting in indie rock these days. Definitly and album and a band to discover!

Don't let this album fall by the wayside,

I'll start by saying this band does have a Radiohead sound (but they also have a heavy/hard rock sound too), but I won't say they are trying to rip them off or anything like that. I ended up getting this CD for free, but if I had knowen it was this good, I would have bougth it. I was taken back by how good it is. The only reason I gave this ablum 4/5 is because of the lyrics are kinda weak on most of the songs. But everything else on this album is so full of sound that I really hope they sound good on the next album, whenever that may come out. If you're looking to try before you buy, try the songs called "If You Too Much (My Head Will Explode)", "Moth", "Token Trapped Woman", "Falling By The Wayside" and "Penny". Mind you I love every song on here, but these are my favs for sure. Try them out, because I think they're really good.
