This was a gift for my 8 y.o. son, who disturbingly noted right off the bat that it looked just like a real AK-47 (perhaps he is partaking in top secret government missions at night?).
The toy is pretty cool; he seems to love it. It's as realistic as it can be without looking "too real".
The "scope" or whatever comes off, which I'm not thrilled about, because no doubt it will end up in some obscure location in the house (under bed, in closet, etc, etc) and I will have to hunt it down to stop the tears. The upside is, it's way too large to end up in the vacuum with all the Legos.
Also, the end of the gun (the tip/barrel? Sorry... I'm no gun lingo expert!) seems a little flimsy. One or two solid whacks upside his sister's head and I'm sure that thing has potential to bite the dust.
I can't comment on the lights & sounds, as he tore it out of the box without giving me a chance to read the box or directions, so apparently I need to get some batteries! Will try to comment on that later.
