4.0 out of 5 stars Better than Tintin Sept. 15 2013

Asterix is one of my favorite cartoon series. This was a good collection of three of the stories. While some of the continuing jokes get a bit boring, like not ever letting the Bard sing, the sly humor makes this a keeper and something I know I will reread.

My nine year old girl and I share the love for this comic. Growing up I read and read Asterix comics over and over until the next time my abuelito will come visit with a new book. I now have introduced my book worm to it and she can't get enough!

The story is funny, the word play is intelligent, and the action never stops. The only problem with this book is that my kids are always fighting over it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Or more precisely, my son-in-law does. March 3 2014

We recently introduced him to Asterix and Obelix, and he's hooked. It's wonderful to be able to buy them in this omnibus format, three at a time, because it not only saves shelf space (we have them all separately, and a lot of them hardcover), but it saves a lot of money, too! My son-in-law, being a barely graduated engineer, loves the shelf-space aspect, needless to say, and my daughter doesn't mind re-reading all her old favorites, either. A perfect present all round. We'll keep collecting, and adding.

For those of you unfamiliar with this French comic, it's history with a big grin---Julius Caesar and the Gauls from a whole new angle. Rather irreverent, and I'm sure the Romans could complain if they were still around, but hilariously good fun, and clean, too! Like a graphic novel about adventures in historic times, but with some of the cuteness of the smurfs and the tongue-in-cheek sarcasm of Garfield rolled into it as well, you might say. I can only recommend you find any volume and try it out (doesn't matter much which, there's a nice explanation of the background in the front of each.)
