Great little sound bar July 12 2012
By Brian Donovan - Published on Amazon.com
I got this to use with our office TV, a Vizio 26" thin LED/LCD. The Vizio speakers are tinny at best. I hooked this up to the TV from the headphone jack on the TV to the 3.5mm jack on the sound bar. I have been very impressed with the fake surround and the quality of the sound. It fills the room nicely even when not sitting dead center. The bass is bit weak so I added a cheap subwoofer from a Logitech S220 set (about $20). I usually only turn on the sub when catching an action or scifi flick. When sitting in the sweet spot dead center the surround effect is very good. Overall, I'd give it 4.5 stars out of 5.

Excellent little speaker Feb. 21 2011

This is a fantastic speaker. I use it for my PS3 which is hooked up to my monitor (With an adapter which allows you to hook up your PS3 to computer speakers). When I change inputs on the monitor to the PS3< I just turn on the speaker. It gives a great faux 5.1 sound. The bass is just okay for what it is, but is surprising for the size of this single unit. The speaker does require a "Sweet Spot", but it is rather large and good enough for more than one person to enjoy it at a time. The two different types of feet is a nice little bonus as well.

If you want a single speaker that still has some good sound, this is one to consider, it is the best PC sound bar I could find for the price and is also a nice looking piece on your desk.

Compact Cine5 is overpriced for what you get Dec 15 2011
By Mike Hall - Published on Amazon.com

I was looking for a compact 5.1 soundbar for a 25" HDTV sitting in a bookcase in a small bedroom. The Cine5 is one of the few compact units available. Though designed for PC use, a little web searching revealed a way to adapt RCA L/R audio (and headphones) output to accommodate the Cine5 inputs so that it can be used with a TV.

Result: Much more spacious sound (with some built-in sound imaging) than the TV's pathetic speakers, but bass is just adequate. The unit is very nice looking.

But: The headphone jack is on the rear of the unit, not front, a bit of cost-cutting idiocy. The blue light at the top cannot be dimmed (except with a covering, detracting from the unit's sophisticated styling). Even with converter boxes, I was not able to get an optical audio signal to the product without distortion.

The person in charge of packaging must have come from the perfume industry or Oppo: The product is housed in a high-end black box with lots of glittery stuff. Now, Oppo can get away with it, but... In my view, were the Cine5 about half of its current (list) price, it might be a good value. Ultimately, I decided there was a better approach to obtaining improved TV sound than the Cine5, so returned it.
