5.0 out of 5 stars Enter Insanity!, Dec 20 1999
By Melanie L Speakman - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Asylum (Paperback)
Asylum is a game about insanity. The issue of mental illness is tastefully respresented, a careful reminder that the mentally ill are human beings, with real emotions, and real problems. The game takes place in a world where the sun has not been seen in a century, where the United States has become a walled institution, and every person has gone mad, left to either accept it and revel in it, or fight it and perish. Unlike most role-playing games, Asylum does not hold players solely to numbers and statistics, but encourages them to push the limits of their creativity, and daresay, their sanity. Gaming sessions, aptly called episodes, can be created with anything from horror to humor in mind, while still being open to all character types. Asylum is a wonderful game that teaches players to accept their mental limits, and then break them down and move beyond, into insanity.
