Excellent, but not for the beginner, Aug 19 2010

This review is from: Attacking Judo: A Guide to Combinations and Counters (Paperback)
Attacking Judo is a rare find.
Unlike most Judo manuals (or most Martial Arts books in general), this book focuses solely on the creation and counters of throwing combinations. At 136 pages, it does an excellent job of giving Judoka with some experience (1-3 years) a solid base from which to create their own combinations. Those with more experience will still find the book worth reading, but will probably only learn combinations for their non-tokui waza.
For the beginning Judoka, I'd recommend "Kodokan Throwing Techniques" or "Judo Unleashed".

Great buy for the intermediate judoka, Feb 3 2011

Structured completely around counters and combination techniques, one needs (IMO) at least 3-4 years of judo experience before being able to put this book to good use. However, for those with that amount of knowledge it is a gem, and something I return to again and again for ideas.

Must have Judo book, Jan 9 2011

When a Judo player gets to the stage where they are trying to develop their combination and counter game, this book becomes essential. Very well written, and well thought out, it is easy to understand and read, although it is the sort of book that one finds oneself returning to over and over. Well worth the money.
